Finally got the car back today and tonight something went ... badly.
Took the car for a romp since it's been in the shop for 2 weeks with the tranny replacement . Pushed it to about 5200 rpms in 5th and 6000 for all other gears prior . Noticed a loss of power at 5200 and got out of it . Slowed to a stop a bit later for a right turn off merge and the car is encased in smoke !
Limped it home smoking and found oil all over the passenger side of the motor and underneath the car. Doesn't look good .
Check your oil line to the turbo and make sure that it's tight to the turbo and oil pan.
Then look at the body of the turbo and see if it's wet, if so you blew a seal in the passenger side turbo.
I hope after some hard runs you let the car idle to let the turbos cool down before you turn it off.
Starting to feel alittle better if this might be the case . I was having thoughts of something more catastrophic . There is hope it could be something else . Thanks.
Oil looks like it is coming out the breather only , all other connections appear to be ok .Oil bypass and out the breather when under some load . Ring or a piston probably . Spark plug black with oil .
For those of you keeping score ,chaulk mine up in the "blown" column . This sucks. . Guess I'll start looking into the forged motor alittle harder now.
When you’re running boost, you know your castrating the longevity of the engine. Some go for years, some last minutes. But eventually, the piper will have to be paid.
How much boost were you running?
Now go build a forged, boost friendly motor.
When live gives you a lemon, make lemon aide!
Always knew a forged motor would be in the cards , I hoped it would be later than sooner .
Running @ 9 - 10 psi .
Dan
9-10psi is quite a bit on stock Z06 compression. When you forge your motor, consider lowering the compression or lowering the boost. It's not that you can't get away with what you're running now, but I think that relies on having a perfect tune.
hopefully its just a turbo, does it idle normally? when u felt loss of power, did it like feel like where did my boost go? or wtf y does my car feel like a 4 cylinder, i'd check your compression just to look into the worst
o ok nvm, so it is a piston rng probably, that blows... no pun intended

SORRY to hear about your potential misfortune. My z06 with its new ECS D1SC KIT also makes 10 lbs of boost at 6500 rpms or so and in an attempt to make my motor live longer i put my rev limiter to 6500 and will shift between 5500 to 6000 where i should only be seing around 7 to 8 lbs of boost. I realize though that it may just be a matter of time that i call ECS and tell them to start building me that forged short block but hopefully that will be later than sooner.
HOw many miles did you have logged on with your turbo motor and BLUEROADSTER how much boost were you running when your engine went KABOOM!!!!!!! (sorry to hear about your misfortune also that SUCKS and on a forged motor to)!!!
