Default Engine Stalls When Stopping

I recently had a Vortech installed on my '01 ZO6 and the McLeod street twin clutch. It's difficult to keep the engine from stalling when slowing to a stop. I had a similar problem with my ProCharged '95 Z28 with the McLeod street twin. Is this something I must accept for having the blower? In an attempt to eliminate the clutch as the main problem, I've tried slipping the tranny into neutral when stopping, and that helps, but not always. The engine rpm's usually drop down to 150-200 rpm's when stopping and then slowly go up to a normal idle, IF it doesn't stall out. Anyone have a similar experience and know how to fix it? Incidently, it has a new BBK TB and the engine was forged and the compression dropped to 9:4:1. Thanks.

Rick

I had a similar problem.... it's not the blower....it's in the tune. Go back to your tuner for a fix.

Yes, it is the tune. The specific problem is in the area of idle air control. The new TB is probably causing most of the issues and can be easily resolved. Go find a good tuner.

100% on that. The tune is everything - night and day difference between a "Good" tune and an "OK" tune.

Maybe your float needs adjusting....

(Kidding) I agree with everyone else, it's the tune.

I agree it's the throttle body and as Quick noted, related to idle air counts (and possibly other tuning issues). As a point of reference, I recently replaced my ported/drilled throttle body with a completely factory throttle body to address some drivability issues. The car was tuned for the ported/drilled TB and so it wanted to stall a lot with the factory TB. Once I returned some of the PCM tables and parameters back to factory calibrations the car was happy again.

Never underestimate the necessity for a dead-on tune!
