Well, thanks guys I was just wondering, but now I know why. Chris if I ever decide to get a supercharger, or anything else , you will be the man to do it. I just get curious at times. Got to keep up with you young guys,Jim.
I'd have to chime in and say I'm one of the foremost experienced powerdyne guys out there. I've retrofitted many powerdynes with different dinin impellers, kevlar/fiberglass belts, etc.. They have the coolest aircharge and they are the quietest blower out there. They make more power at low boost levels than any other blower out there. I was able to squeeze over 500rwhp on my mustang motor with 9psi. Once you remove the crappy tensioner on the BD-11a and put the proper belt on, with good SKF bearings, they are dependable.. I have never had one break that I retrofitted. With the proper work done, they are very good blowers. I'm actually selling my kit on ebay next week, look for a polished/black kit to see some of the mods you can do to them.
I had a BD11a as well on my 98 Camaro....I sueezed 11 pounds out of it and never once had any problems with the head unit...I thought it was a great blower. Also very quiet and simple. No oil lines or anything.
It's just a name thing in my opinion. If you go to the Vortech, procharger or powerdyne message boards you'll see that they all have problems....
Buying a powerdyne is like buying running shoes from Walmart....They'll work fine and be cheap. Just most people would prefer to were Nike than Sike...Thats all...
* But it must be said that they have HORRIBLE customer service.*
But to be Honest...Even though I do think it was a great blower....Id never put the cheapest item on my Vette.....Forn the camaro it was fine......But not the Vette....
I know Im contradicting everything I just said but to me powerdyne and Corvette just dont sound right together...
