Default Question

Hey everyone,

Have a question I know of a speed shop where a customer brought in a bone stock 04 ZO6 corvette. And I mean everything is stock!!!!!11

Now with using TTi x kit one that makes up to a 1000hp underthe hood or more one.

1. the fuel system was upgraded
2. the tt kit installed with intercooler.
3. change the head gasket with new thick metal ones that lowerd the compression from 10.5to1 to 9.5to1

4. with a good tune

dyno reading in 842rwhp torque not sure
with that means 1000 plus under the hood running the car hard for the last 3 to month bottom end and clutch holding out ok. now with this setup and a good tune is this normal or damn lucky thanks

Ad to this owner said stock clutch is fine , but I have the seen the car and road in it with the dyno reading I know this was done but the clutch your guess is good as mine

A thicker head gasket is not going to reduce your CR by an entire point. I also don't believe that anyone is running 842 rwhp on a stock bottom end.

The TTi X kit is terrific, don't get me wrong, I just don't think that any stock bottom end is going to hold up to 800+ rwhp for any length of time.

Cheers,

Mark

If it hasn't blown up yet, it will. The stock piston ring lands can't handle the cylinder pressures involved in making 800+rwhp. Also, just because they made that much HP on 1 run by running alot of boost and race gas doesn't mean he is running that much boost all the time either. Some turbo guys will brag big numbers but they don't actually run that much boost on the street because even they know its asking for trouble..

No joke! I was actually starting to buy it.....................until I read that the stock clutch was holding up just fine.

A stock clutch holding up fine with 800+ rwhp? Head gaskets lowering compression by a full point? Let's see, it's Monday now so that clutch should last until probably Wednesday at the latest. The pistons may make it until then...but I doubt it.

850RWHP on the stock bottom end has been done several times.

It is all possible expect for #3. Now, if he said he swapped the heads and took it down to 9.5:1 It would be much more realistic.

You would have to run a head gasket that was .10 compressed to drop the compression that much. That would eliminate all the quench/squish on an ls1. Although, I have seen people stack 2 gaskets on a NA 2Jz motor and run plenty of boost.

The clutch is another part that is hard to swallow. I guess if he got no traction at all and only got the #s on the dyno.

And I have an all original and complete 1953 C1 (numbers correct) with the fuelie 327, 4 speed, 12 bolt, A.C., leather, H.U.D. and a one off CD player that wasn't released to the public until 40 years later. It's the prototype car that was featured in Hot Rod mag in July of 1952. I'm asking $1.5 m.
