Ok,I'm having a problem my car,it was tuned by Ed Wright (mail order I know bad idea but there is noone close to do it) I'm buying HP tuners now the problem
here is what Jim at Ed Wright told me ," Jim I'm need my car back to stock , is it locked?" He responded," We stopped locking them more than two years ago." I asked to check my file he said," didn't have to because he know it wasn't lock and they did the locking for LS1 edit but the dealer could unlock it. So would the bin files put it back to stock? Or go to the dealer to have it flashed? I really want to use HP tuner but I do not want to waste the money if it will not work .
Yes, HP tuners will work..And Yes, you can take it to the dealer and have them flash it with the lastest GM updates. This usually includes the column lock bypass recall which is free of coarse. If swapped injectors just take your HP tuners with you, dump the new GM flash, edit the injectore flowrate tables and drive it out and have fun.
Just a word of caution on doing the GM reflash... this is probably not an issue with HPTuners, but with LS1Edit I had a problem reflashing my car's calibration while at the dealer. The problem was that my copy of LS1Edit was over a year old and didn't recognize the flash that my dealer put on the car. So it would download the program but not put a new program onto the car.
Had to have the car towed back to the house (no big deal) and update my copy of LS1Edit to get the car to idle again. Again not a big deal but just have all your ducks in a row before taking the car to the dealership for a reflash.
I wouldnt suggest writing a different file to your car, specially being a novice. But, you can download your's from the PCM and use the net file for comparason.
