Default upgrade TE 44

well i unbolted the compressor housings to have them polished. while doing so i accidently dinged the tip of the turbine. just had operation on rotator cuff so workin' w/one arm
anyway sent turbos to Jose @ forcedinduction to assure that turbine is ok and balanced. so i was throwing the idea around if i should upgrade them. i am not thinking of replacing them completely just playing w/housings or turbines.

tell me what u think.

Upgrade to BB. That should help the spool a little bit.

I stuck with the TE-44s.
Mainly because the ball bearing turbos only spool 300 rpms faster.
This may be alot for a all out drag car but I just have fun in mine.

Plus the install gets more complicated when you move to a BB turbo.
I like to keep things as simple as possible.

Just my opinion

good choice on the te44. jose could upgrade my te44 to bb easliy but like u said it worth approx 200 to 300 rpm...like ill notice.
i know there are some new turbines that jose is working on but not sure that they will work.
my a/r on the hot side is .58 dont think that i wanna go any larger. on the compressor side we could play w/trim or even machine out compressor housing and go w/slightly larger wheels.
i think in the end though that these te44 are an excellent choice right outa the box.

Well... you should think about what's in store for the future, cubewise. You're motors fairly new so I don't know how long you're planning to keep it as it is. Knowing you, you're probably just looking for an excuse to get another one.
The more significant thing is how you like how it spools now. It sounds like you want it to spool sooner... I know that while it's at Jose's the temptation to upgrade is hard but Jose would know best... just keep the goalsje

I think there's quite a bit more in her w/ timing/afr/alky..

BTW, I'm gonna try to get on a dyno this weekend so you can see what it does on a 408.

arnel u'r so right!
i love the spool time as is but at the track i'd like more boost off the line but i got that covered now!! ait trick works awesome. 8.2psi in 1.5 car lenghts!
yeah u know when u pull stuff u look for excuses to mod!! so true!!!
ill have jose at least balance them.

at 18psi i am pretty maxed out on fuel, unless i can add 10% alchy and then pull some fuel from VE table. you see at the track alchy wasnt workin so thats definately something that can be played with! timing.....18*that day.

i'd like to push 20 22 psi!

bigger cubes is nice but i am definitely maxed out w/irs setup!

i CANNOT wait to hear ur #'s

what have u seen in psi???

Makin my way slowly up the boosted areas of VE. I've only seen 7psi.... Part-throttle stuff for the most part, due to weather. I'll see what she does at 12psi. Yup, kinda curious what the curve will look like. Don't think there's been an established limit on what kinda boost it'll go to. Later down the road w/ alky, who knows... probably 18.

ARE YOU using a boost enrichment mult. to add fuel when in boost or just going straight with ve table in the higher kpa????

Since you are dealing with Jose, he would be the man to ask about potential upgrades. They have probably done more work with their turbos than anyone you could possibly ask on this board. FYI you and your results are really pushing me towards the PTK kit.

Interested as well to see your numbers . My 408 with the Stage X should be producing numbers next week.

Moved up to 3 bar also.

you should just go with the greddy t-88 twin turbo package
that would make your car flippin' fast.

Here's what I found on google....

1 Bar MAP sensors are used on NA(naturally asperated) vehicles. 14psi of Vacuum to atmosphere.
2 Bar MAP Sensors are used on forced induction vehicles(Turbo & Supercharged). They can measure up to 2x the apmospheric pressure(29.4psi), so that means it can measure up to 14.7psi boost(the atmosphere is 14.7psi + 14.7psi from the turbo/supercharger).
3 Bar MAP sensors can measure up to 44.1psi, which translates to 29.7psi boost from a Turbo/supercharger.

1 bar is absolute so thats zero..
so 2nd bar is then 14.7
then 3rd bar is then 28.X

got it?
