Default bad gas?

Fellas, I finished my STS install over the weekend with great success, but I saw some knock retard (5* at one point) with the 91 octane the tank had. That gas happened to be from a large chain (QT = Quik Trip). I filled up with 91 at a Texaco station, drove 150 miles home (getting 35mpg average at 70mph.... this can't be right), and went WOT one time to see if the PCM still pulled any timing. I went WOT 3 times and didn't see any knock at all. I was going to add a can of Torco to verify it was real knock, but simply changing gas stations proved it.

So, where do you buy your gas? I'm planning on sticking to the big names; Texaco, BP (Amaco Ultimate), etc.

Good choice. I stick to Sunoco (or GTO - noname Sunoco) because of their 94 octane!

It was right when the boost came in... but that's long gone now. Either bad gas or the computer has learned a thing or two... i'm not sure.

The O2 readings used to be low... like lean... but now they are register RICH. 960-970mv... which is pig-***-rich.

No knock and the car is running rich as of today. New tune is going in tomorrow... we'll have another go at it if the weather is nice.

All we have in CA is 91, So it's Chevron and one can of Torco for the last 3 years!! Does the job!
