No, the PCV valve acts as a flame arrestor to prevent a flame ball from entering the crankcase in the event of a back-fire. But the valve itself is not capable of sealing the the line from constant pressure such as boost. The boost will pass right by and pressurize the crankcase. Once you replace it with the McMaster valve it has a crack pressure of .3#s and it also has a smaller oriface than a PCV valve so in a way it is regulating the air flow into the intake. The car would idle poorly if too much air was being fed in and my car idles spot-on. I'm sure others here will confirm that as well.

The first, you say this replaces the PCV setup. Does this mean that you intend this to replace the PCV valve also. I'm pretty sure that you want to keep your PCV valve in the system, because that is also the "air flow meter" that allows the vucuum to suck a pre-determined volume of cranckase air.
See post #21

The second question is what will you be including in these kits. I'm assuming that you will have the catchcan, a CH seperator, an inline check valve (McMaster vlave) and hoses and clamps. Additionally, since my engine is an LS-1 will you also be supplying an additional "mesh-screened fuel filter" or something of the like to put in the line that goes from the throttle body port to the front port on the passenger side valve cover. Also, will a check valve be needed in this line for boosted engines?
yes x5
This application is being designed/built for FI C5's, tested and proven on my personal A&A D1 Z06. She is an 01 and was a big burner. Since I put this system in, my oil consumption has dropped like a stone. The reason I went w/the seperator is becuase the catch can does not have the mesh in it. I was afraid to mess with that stuff and getting it into the engine. I have seen some members get the right material and it can alsways be stuffed into the can.

Lastly, will you be including any breathers for the system? From my research, it seems to be recommended for when you have boost, and the crankcase becomes pressurized. The best solution I read, at least in my opinion so far, was to add a "T" fitting right before where the PCV line goes into the check valve that goes into the intake. From this T fitting, you add another check valve with a breather on the end of it. Then, under boost when your crankcase potentially pressurizes your PCV line, the pressure is relieved through this T fitting, through the check valve and through the breather. When not in boost, vucuum sucks air through the PCV line, but not through the breather because the check valve restricts flow that way.
No other breathers will be included. I wanted this system to be an easy install and the starting point for a more aggressive system. A few guys here have done this type of setup as well and it works too. I didn't want to get into vacume pumps or additional hose/valves etc...

I am including the seperator as an additional filtering method. It will collect some oil due to vapor and can be easily drained via the shreader valve on the bottom.

Again, I want to stress that this is a basic FI application, NA guys would need a different setup.

I have the valves/seperators/hose and clamps already here. I should have the cans mid next week.

This is the first time I have mass produced something built off my Z and I know it works well on my setup and will do a great job for your average A&A/ECS setup. I would go as far as clasifying this as an entry level pvc elimination mod.

As far as price goes, don't know on that yet. I want to get them built first and ready for shipping before making the prices etc.... of which I think is fair. I am not looking to make a killing on this but to provide a solid solution for a reasonable price. You are not going to pay for my R&D, just parts and my time to put them together.

As far as placement goes, I will make correct length lines to duplicate my setup and will also include some extra hose if you want to get morte creative with the placement of the can itself.

I look forward to supplying you guys with a quality yet affordable setup for what it does.

I am starting with 5 kits and will go from there pending on demand but will always have some in stock for the "gotta have it yesturday" guys etc...

I will update as needed, thanks for all your intrest and support guys, really appreciate it.

Looking forward to more info on your setup. Do you have any photos of your current install? I'm curious to see what's involved in putting this system on my '01 C5.

Hi Guys,

Here is an update for you as to where I am at with the package. The cans are on their way to me but got held up in shipping, should have them Friday. I was supposed to have them today so some of you could install it this weekend but that went out the window.

Pending on how these go, one of my techs said I should make a "show" package with SS Braided lines and -AN fittings, it's a thought.

Catch cans came in today however there has been a slight design change with the fittings, there are not any anymore. Translation, have to tap the ports, no big deal.

I should have pics and pricing for Monday and a new Thread.

Brian,
What's the latest? I'm interested to see what the kit has and how much it will cost.
Thanks,
Chris

I use an AMW catch can with the Mcmaster carr check valve and breathers on both valve covers works great under normal driving it pulls 20+lbs of vacum and under boost the crank case breaths through the breathers etc.. I used another passenger side valve cover on the drivers side with two Metco breathers. I used to just run one Metco on the passenger side, but liked the way the breathers looked with one on each side etc...

question, do you get alot of oil mist collecting in the breathers and have to clean them often

Any update on the custom Catch Can? I am very interesting in one after looking inside a used LS6 intake I recently purchased.
