I'm workin' on it.
Just need 2 seconds without the phone ringing and without a twin turbo vette to build...........................okay one of those is done.
The car is an absolute animal.
Thanks to TTi for the awesome Stage X kit
Thanks to Rodney @ RPM for a wicked trans
Thanks to the guys here at our shop for a great engine that took a **** kicken over and over on the dyno, and especially to Nolan for the awesome tune.
Your application has as much to do with what you are using the clutch for as the RWHP does.
If someone is "running around" on the street with 900 RWHP they are not going to have clutch problems because they will do nothing but spin the tires.
My point is that tires play big into this. Also they usually talk torque when rating the clutch.
I hope to be over 700 RWHP and RWT on my setup.
If I had to do a clutch once a year, I would be ok with that with significant time at the drag strip. I think I am a realist when it comes to life of components and what things will handle though.
700 and 900 aren't exactly the same. Do you drag race your 700 rwhp car?
Mark
Reason I ask is because I drag raced my 700rwhp just fine on the RAM 910 and the Textralia. Im going to have over 800 by the time my car is back together and just wondering whether to expect the Textralia to give it up.
Ive seen 500rwhp be too much for the Exedy if you drag race it. Was just wondering if any of the high hp people on here with the Exedy actually race their cars.

Kumar, you must be mistaken everybody that has purchased an Exedy..well except me...has had no problems. It will support 600+rwhp all day long: track/dyno/street
There have been some people who have had problems with their Exedy clutches. I can't think of any clutch that someone hasn't broken at some point in time.
For every story of an Exedy failure there are several more of success. FWIW.
I have talked to several people with Exedy's that have had issues.
I can tell you that in my opinion with this clutch break in is everything and hot lapping or any sort of overheating is a serious NO NO.
I have raced mine.. my car with about 600 HP and 500 RWT... I have personally had no problems.
But as Earl pointed out he has had some issues. That being said I don't think the people who have chimed here are all inclusive of everyone that has an Exedy clutch, either positive or negative experience.
Like I stated above the people that I know of that had issues were either from hot lapping or improper break in.
My point is that its a $1,500+ clutch that has had "at the least" quality control issues. While going thru the process that I went thru to get a warrnaty replacement, I learned quite a bit about their failure record...hell they even revised the hp/torque rating around the same time. Coincidence..probably not. Also, try getting a rebuild, when the clutch does fail..that was the most disappointing part. I sent my McCleod in and had it back in a week for a rebuild cost of less than $400. I only spoke up to save the guy a few bucks (I lost about $1K on my Exedy experience). I'm not out to win an argument.
My shifting days are over (well for the Z anyways). RPM A4 Baby!!!!!! The Exedy experience was partly to blame for that. I guess I can say one good thing about them.

You tell um Earl......................that and you can't shift worth a **** sorry just kidding
