Dyno numbers dont mean $hit. I can dyno 100 more RWHP on the same day by going to a different shop. Are you talking 600 mustang dyno HP? or 600 Dynojet HP? Our cars dont weigh 3200 with gas and us in it. My TTi Stage X coupe with me in it, and a 1/2 tank weighs 3630. I am 235#. To run 135 in the 1/4 I have to have *675 dyno jet hp or *600 mustang dyno hp, through a 6 speed and drag radials.
*Pending that the dynos have been calibrated correctly.
I would love to see a vid of a C5 running 135 in the 1/4 on 8# boost on a 5.7L.... I call
I always find it cute when others who own something else, seem to jump on the STS threads and claim to know all and put down the STS setup with no supporting evidence. You would think they have something better to do.
Yea - it's almost as annoying as people who don't have an STS setup boasting of it's virtues.
FWIW, most of the comments in this thread were about a totally bogus claim that a bone stock LS1 C5 with 7 lbs of boost will trap 135 MPH. I'm not ripping on the kit by any means - I'm just pointing out that is bull.

Talk about not having any supporting evidence. Even someone who owns an STS kit knows that you guys need to put down the crack pipe.
It's hard not to jump in when someone states misleading info.
I'm not trying to be an ***, but you guys just state stuff that makes you look extremely clueless.

Please explain to me how a car makes 600RWTQ across the board and only 600RWHP. 600RWTQ at 6500 rpms is 750RWHP. It would have to drop below 500RWTQ by redline to only make 600RWHP.That is not they way I would describe 600RWTQ across the board.
I just have to call BS when I see it. I'm not against the STS or anyone.
their were 2 that were hand fabricated as tests and then 6 that were sent out as beta testers, followed by another 9 that were teh first production kits (mine was the first of these kits) I got mine, or most of it in november. the black Z06 that you see on STS's website was one of the first 6 beta testers and the red Z06 that had pictures floating around last fall was one of the hand made ones. I have the REd copue thats been posted on here.
Its agreat kit, i havent had a chance to take it to the track yet, but i dont think its that fast to tel lyou the truth, im still on the predator tune on 5 lbs of boost, and its fast, we will see what a good HP tuners tune and DR's and a Clutch will run sometime this summer. I was going to goto the track Last friday, but i guess it was closed for ST Patty's.
I really wish everyone would stop fighting about this kit, its made reading the STS threads not as fun for me. My car doesnt sound like the one in the commerdcial either, ill have a video posted soon.
Holy **** guys - only took one post for it to become a bash contest! NICE!!! I love this forum!!!
I saw the commercial - it was quite funny, and well done. The Viper revved his engine, the vette revved, and you heard the whistle of the turbos (ok, ok - so this is total bs - it is TV afterall!), and the viper then takes off as if scared of the baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad vette. I thought it was worth a chuckle!

Me to. Drama is what forums are all about. Think about it. How exciting would it have been had everyone answered this thread with a simple Yes or No - I saw the commercial or "Yea - the STS kit is great" or "Vipers suck".. ??
No No. Fortunately, someone was good enough to inject this thread with some total malarkey, which a few of us found refuting too tempting to resist.
The only thing that could have been better is if a certain someone chimed in a taken credit for the R&D of the STS kit.
Whatever floats your boat. You must be really bored.
I guess the STS TT Z06 they took to SEMA did not put down 600 rwhp either. By the end of spring there will other many examples here, you can have fun playing those owners since it keeps you entertained.
It's 30 degrees out and I'm off work all week - I don't feel cheated.
Most of us are happy to see the various kits put done good numbers, but when a claim is made that doesn't seem to add up I think it's only proper to speak up. A Lingenfelter TT isn't going to trap 135 at 7 lbs of boost for crying out loud.

Just curious about something because I really dont know the answer. I remember reading about a few of those Cartek H&C (and the supporting bolt-on) cars, which were approximately 500-525RWHP, and they were running 10's with a good driver. Why does a 550RWHP FI car not have the capability of running 10's? Just talkign ET's, not traps here.

It does...problem is C5's aren't setup as Drag Racer. Getting good 60fts is key. Weight transfer on a Vette at launch leaves much to be desired, so some suspension tweaking is in order. Some guys have claimed to do it with stock suspension components on DR's. Typically those guys are in "good" air a great altitudes. Higher HP just compensates for the C5's inherent non-drag friendly suspension design. A few maggys on spray have done it. I'm sure the KB's will do it....if they can hook up. Important thing is getting good short times.
