We got away from MTBE too... minimum 10% ethanol year round now I do believe on top of the fact that our max Octane is 91. GM is really pushing this E85 stuff.
Nick, IMO, its not the oil companies... its the EPA... and the pinko commie bed wetter CARB. I think they would just assume sell 10% more gas than bring in someone elses product and be forced to mix it in...

"The problem with the replacement additive, experts say, is that ethanol cannot be shipped in pipelines because it absorbs water, and requires trucks, rail cars or barges for transport."
huh!!! what does this mean for folks that dont use the car as DD's???
I wouldn't trust straight 93 for my Vette anymore , I will definitely run some Torco or 100 unleaded mixed in with it when I run lower boost (9-10lbs) , it's too inconsistent , even my truck (06 Trailblazer SS 6.0LS-2) has been sensitive to different brands of 93 lately .
My car didn't like Sunoco 93 so I threw some Torco in and she perked right up. I don't have anywhere around me that sells Cam 2 so it looks like it's going to be a long summer.

news flash...i found an auto part stor that sells vp and its literally minutes from my home. i picked up 109 unleaded. going to atco on monday!
You fella's should try your local oil supplier. My local company, "Circleville Oil", has about 20 different types of race fuel, both leaded and unleaded. And they also sell methanol. They sell by the gallon, as well as 5 gallon cans, and 55 gallon drums. Yea for me! I am one of the lucky ones.
Also, I believe they're a TORCO supplier. My buddy just picked up 5 gallons of leaded 110 today, and got me a sticker that says "TORCO racing fuels"....or something like that. I never realized that's who they dealt with.

Austin, thanks for the information. I'll be using methanol soon. It's nice to know there is a supplier so close to me.

You will probably loses power with 109 unless you really need that much octane to keep from detonation. You may want to change your timing a little to take advantage of it.
I heard the other day that Brazil is a complete oil free country now. Using 100% Ethanol. Or is it Methanol. What's the difference? Or is is the same?

Ethanol is grain alcohol. Methanol is wood alcohol. So they come from different biomass sources.
Ethanol is consumable by humans - methanol is poisonous to humans. This is why the government will not allow us to simply buy pure ethanol - only denatured (ethanol spiked with methanol or other denaturants to make it undrinkable). They'd rather make us go blind then let us get drunk
Ethanol has a stoich AFR of ~9:1. Methanol is ~6.4:1.
THose are 'some' of the differences (there are many others including energy content, latent heats of vaporisation, etc.)

Not a problem.
I also didn't know there was a supercharged vette that lived so close to me. I live in Ashville, and am driving ('03 EB Z06) through Canal all the time going to a friend's house. You might have seen his vette. He rolls around in a yellow C6 coupe.
