Default 2002 Z06 nitrious

I'm interested in buying a nitrious kit for my 02 Z I'm interested in the ZEX direct port or is there a better kit than that one, and I got a few questions about it, is it safe for me to do a 200 or 150 shot, what do I need to get to be on the safe side, my car is completely bone stock, any info will help, thanx

I run a NX DP kit runninga 175 shot on the stock bottom end with no trouble. You may want to drop by the LS1TECH.COM forums and do some searching in the nitrous section.
If you have some specific questions, drop me a PM.

I have the Zek nitrous kit on my car running a 175 shot. I also have it direct ported into the FAST intake. If you do this be SURE to get the car tuned for it. Here are some pics.......

MTI Racing is one of the new sponsers here and Reese *** of MTI Racing did the tuning for my set up. He called me the whole time he was tuning b/c he hated to pull out all of the timing so he found a happy medium between what is "recomended" to tune the timming down to and where he had it before I added the spray.........I have never been happier

With the FAST intake you can buy the burst kit I did just to be on the safe side. Also, if you are taking it to the track you will need a blow down tube. I also have the bottle heater because when you start sparying the bottle will freeze up unless you keep it heated. You can buy all this stuff from ZEX(but if you search hard enough you can find it alot cheaper). The MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO GET A NITROUS TUNE

I do have many more mods, but I don't think you need them in the application

Check out our DP kits, and other vette specific kits in the link below. We have a plate kit for the ls1/ls6 coming out shortly. Let me know if I can help in any way.

One last thing, if you are planning to use the nitrous often then you might want to look into forged pistons. The factory pistons are not designed to handle all that power and heat so over time they will go.

True, but somewhat misleading. It's really the torque that's a killer. So statement applys for big hits, anything over 550/600 hp range. Even then, if going dual stage or progressive (splitting up the torque spike) you can safely do a 200hp shot, and live, if tune is right on. I already have over 150, hard launching, passes on the spray, no issues.

Well yes it can be safe if done correctly. I have shot a 200 on my Z06. You should have a dyno shop tune for your hit, starting smaller and work your way up, a lot of parameters need to be met to do this size shot safely. A dual stage kit is just like running two seperate kits, with one coming in later in the rpm band and/or in higher gears. I will use my set-up as an example. I am currently running about a 125hp in first gear at 3000rpm, then in second gear at 4100rpm comes another 50/75 shot. I do this to break up the torque spike that likes to break our rearends, axles, drivelines and clutches. Also, this will help a bunch on a 60' time and thus a better ET, for traction limited cars. I am currently adding a 3rd stage and plan on going 250/300hp on a stock longblock. Here is a earler dyno of my car, with a total shot of about 135 in dual stage, look at easy the torque comes on compared to the all in one off the line torque monsters. A progressive works about the same, but controls the amount of spray by pulsing the noids.
