Default Help me pick out a clutch...

Welp, my new setup is going to be as follows:

LS6 (stock displacement) based engine with forged internals and designed to be very nitrous friendly. It will be running at least a 200 shot. I will be running stage 2e heads from MTI and a G5X3 cam and longtube headers.

Right now I'm on a STOCK couple clutch, not even the Z06 one... Obviously that is NOT going to last at all. What is the latest and greatest in clutches?? I'm guessing I should be somewhere around the 600HP range. Do I have to replace the master cylinder?? Seems like I read about an adjustable cylinder one time. Obviously I want to do the clutch while I have the motor out to save me some labor.

I drive this car A LOT so drivability is a major concern to me. It will see the track a few times a year but not all that often as there isn't really one close to me. Thankfully it is no longer my daily driver so I can do mods like this...but it has to be reliable and easy enough to drive so that it COULD be if it had to be. Any help is appreciated.

I've looked at the McLeod, Exedy and Textralia and so far the Textralia is looking like my best bet. Anyone agree, disagree??

Thanks guys for any help!!

At that level and w/ your intended use, what about the LS2 clutch? Other than that, the Textralia or Cartek would be my choice.

I'll look into it...good idea, I hadn't thought about using that one yet.

Does the LS7 clutch fit a LS6?

Been running the Cartek for a few months now. It has also taken a lot of abuse. Still works as good as the day I put it in and it is supporting a lot of horsepower.

LS7 clutch fits the LS6 fine. That is what I am planning on using with my new motor.

I have a RPS setup in my car and it has seen it's share of abuse in the 3500+ miles I have on it. When new it was stiff and after 4 or 5 heat cycles it is just a little stiffer than the stock. I have been happy with the clutch so far

Be careful with this choice. IMO ... its not yet proven itself.

On launches at/above 4000 REVS ... the clutch hangs, and is prone to glaze. The strip pros are sending up the redflags on it.

Let the buyer BEWARE

Perhaps ... but, why accept that risk ... when for the same money you can get a Cartek Level 7 ... very streetable and rated to 700 RWHP.

Street action can be very tough on clutches

You can get an LS7 clutch for $500 with a new flywheel. My stock clutch is holding fine after 2 different superchargers Magnacharger and now ECS Paxton at 617wrhp/572rwtq and 25-30 passes at the drag strip and 2000+ miles on the street. Its all how you drive and not getting the stock organic disc too hot and glaze it over...A tosted clutch is usually 90% driver error...

I've been running an RPS clutch for about 10 months now with some serious street driving and it's holding up just fine.

I've also drivin to Florida and Georgia from Jeresy with 588 RWHP with NO problem!!!

I am starting to feel somewhat better after seeing a few people running this clutch and be happy with it. I am going with this setup also.

Thanks guys. The LS7 clutch is looking like a good option along with a few others.

I drive over 20K miles per year on average... That's why I'm thinking the LS7 clutch is a good bet. It was designed and tested for high mileage use..who knows about the other units. I'm sure they can and do handle the power just as well but I have no idea how they will hold up long term

What about the new Spec stage 3+ . I had the stage 3 and it worked great, now with over 800hp i am going with the 3+. It has got to be the best bang for the buck if it can handle the power it says it can. 550 bux
