What is the true max boost a P1 is reliable for??? Trying to see if I should convert to a D1, or if my P1 is fine for up to XX lbs. of boost...

My friend made over 700 rwhp with a P-1. Boost is relative and you can't believe everything you read on the forum. A P-1 has to work harder to make the same power as a D-1.
peter pan is making 742rwhp with a P1sc at 14psi of boost on a 346ci. And that was only at 6000rpm where they stoped the dyno runs at. It would have made more. He didn't want to run it any higher to keep it reliable...

Hi Chris,
Peter pan is running a D1SC, not a P1
The highest I have seen on a P1 was 711 RWHP and don't know about the boost

Man if those numbers were on a stock bottom end he would have the world record. What's the RWHP figure before forging becomes necessary?
Wow, unreal. I do believe that the LS6 has a stronger bottom end than my LS1 so I'm probably looking at a maximum of 500 RWHP for my application.....but I'll take it......for now.

Peterpan has a forged 346 from A&A Corvette (forged pistons and rods) with higher flowing heads.
Also the LS6 stock is running a higher compression ration than the LS1. So it is a little bit less boost friendly than the LS1.

As a FYI - from 2000 onwards, the LS1 & LS6 bottom end were the same. I know your have a '99.

I've read a few posts which state that the LS1 takes to the boosting real well since the compression isn't as high as in the LS6. Would this even out the playing field somewhat?
Just curious about reeal world numbers, the factory specs never tell the truth... Thanks for the help guys...

Nice numbers you have out of that PS1C, is your bottom end stock, if so you probably do not need to turn up the wick any higher, you can add some meth to make it a little safer.
If you have a C6 with a forged bottom end then you can turn the wick higher that is for sure. I kept my little ole 346 to 14lbs and shut her down at 6200. If I see the need to up the boost my first step is to raise the rev limiter to about 6800 and see what I get. On my DS1C I use a 3.85 pulley to hit my 14lbs. So if you are forged there is no reason that you can not turn the wick up so you can see 14+ lbs and again I would install a meth kit for some added protection.
I have a 4.10 pulley on my cammed and headerd 02 Z06. My P1 made 10psi at 6,700 and 632rwhp with a below 10:1afr and 14.5* of timing. So I would guess it would make about 12-13psi with the 3.85 pulley I have waiting to go on. I would just start to worry about IAT's at that point though. I don't have meth yet either so right now I run a restrictor plate. I think in the future I am going to find the limit of this head unit though.
There is another guy making 10psi and 675rwhp on a 383 with a P1.
I'm making 653RWHP at 8.5 psi on a stock bottom end with a P1SC-1. I'll be going with a forged bottom end soon and turning up the boost to 14 or so PSI.
