Okay, so here's the deal, the past few times that I've taken the vette out, I've noticed that it seems like the supercharger isn't "kicking" in some times.
Ex. I'm in 2nd gear on a freeway onramp. I nail it and nothing is really happening. The rpms are climbing slowly and then it seems like it isn't boosting until about 4.5-5k. So I'm wondering is there an issue with my bypass valve? Because that would explain it acting like a turd - no boost and a way too fat AFR for NA power.
Am I right on this? Because having no throttle responce is annoying as hell.
Could be a lot of things.
Bad gas causing the engine to pull timing, high IATs causing the same thing.........
Is this intercooled?
What's the boost gauge say?
Hmm... I suppose it would be a good idea to do some logging with HPT and see what's going on. I know the IATs are high - it's non intercooled. They're probably in the 190 range with the weather now.
I still haven't gotten around to installing the boost gauge and pillar. I hooked it up temporarily about 2 months ago and it does boost the full 5psi.
I'm going to call Magnacharger Monday and ask them if that sounds like the bypass valve acting up.
Well then, do like I've done (I have no pride). If you don't want to install it right now, duct tape the sucker to the outside of the windshield and drive it. See what's up with the boost.
I do know of people having belt slip with maggies. Maybe the belt is slipping just a little bit until it heats up and gets a little tacky? Just a guess.
