My 99 starts up fine when i drive it daily, but if I dont drive it for a couple of days it wont fire up the first time. It always cranks the 2nd time though. If i drive everyday this doesnt happen.. I have some timing taken out of it due to the 125 shot. I also have a haltec intake, port n polished throttle body, and ls1 edit. I do have my exhaust cut off right in front of my mufflers. Is there not enough back pressure or what . thanks for anyones input...

Does the engine at least turn over like its attempting to start? Or does it just do nothing?
I have been annoyed with this a few times, and i dont think the pump is powered while cranking, so unless you have the pressure at the rails to start it, it wont start -
do you let the pump prime the system (just turn the key to the on position for 5-10 seconds before beginning to crank) or do you just turn the key and start cranking.
I think alot of our cars will see fuel pressure loss in the lines with the car off when left for a few days, you may need to prime it twice, it should start on the first crank.

My Car dose the same thing if I let it set for two or three days.
I just cycle the key twice and varooooom.
Letting the pump prime is the key
It sounds like you guys are right, because last time i crank it up after it sat a couple of days i turned the key on and let the guages come back down before cranking it , it didnt fire right off but it did crank the first time. Just glad to hear my car isnt the only one doing this. thanks a bunch.
i JUST got mine back fri. from the dealer...it did the same thing where itd start the 2nd time...exept it was 80% of the time...they replaced the check valve...seems too have fixed the problem ;-)
