I'm as disgusted to see another catch can thread as you guys but I bought all the stuff for a Campbell Hausfeld catch can and I went to hook it up yesterday and got a little confused. Could be because my lack of motivation after installing my Racetronix, getting new boots put on my drivers side half shaft, replacing my clutch fluid and changing the oil in my Procharger. Rather than half *** it I wanted to see if I have the piping correct.
What confused me is where to connect the hose to on the back side of the motor. There is the hard Y pipe in the back and I had thought of pulling that out and connecting it there but it was pretty imposible to get to where the hard line started with the intake still on. Also, getting rid of the Y pipe would take the passenger side valve cover out of the picture, I would still need to tee in the passenger side rear valve cover vent. If I installed the hose to the catch can after the hard Y it would look pretty messy, I don't want the catch can that far up in the engine bay. So now I'm contemplating replacing all the hard lines and hoses with new hoses; starting at the drivers side valve cover, behind the motor, teeing the passenger valve cover into it, then going into the battery compartment, back out and to the throttle body/PCV.
I was wondering what everyone else has done, particularly on the earlier year PCV systems as I guess on the later years the passenger side rear vent is not present.
I think it's totally different on the LS6 PCV setup Nick. Where ever the hose on the top of your AMW goes to I don't have.
I know they are different.. just did not know how they were different. I thought that what I sent you might point you in the right direction. Maybe someone else can offer more insight.

The breather I have on there sucks. It is just the one that came with the TTi setup. Phil has devised one that works correctly.. ECS is selling them, that is your best bet. The one I have is fine from a function standpoint, but because the filter is angled if there are oil vapors in it when they condense it falls on the exhaust manifold making a nice puff of smoke. Call ECS for a correct setup.
I pulled the stock hard plastic piping on the passenger side out of the Y connector at the back of the manifold. I bypassed the hard plastic line altogether by inserting a brass barb fitting with a hose attached to it into the Y connector.
Search for my name and you'll find the thread with complete details and pics.
I looked at things again last night and was able to get to the Y-Pipe only after removing it from the driver's side valve cover and taking the entire assembly out from behind the intake. I can't imagine trying to squeeze back there with it still connected!Maybe I could now that I know exactly what is back there but taking it out was easy enough and gave me a lot better feel for how it was all connected. After that I was able to get everything else hooked up in short order. I may go back later and replace the y-pipe with a 3/8" hose from the drivers side valve cover and get a 3/8" tee to plumb in the passenger side closer to the valve cover. I'm not too keen on how the passenger side goes clear back behind the intake, then has to take a 180 degree turn to go toward the catch can which is now in the battery compartment. But for the time being it's fine. It's already turning the stone in the CH separator brown just with a drive to work. The separator is installed in reverse with the arrow facing the firewall. Should have done this a long time ago.
I know there has been discussion of replacing the PCV valve with a viton check valve from McMaster Carr but I think the PCV valve is keeping boost out of the crankcase just fine.
