Default 03 Autometer Pod Pillar Install Help

Yes I ordered one from summit racing and they said it was for my 03. Do I remove the facotry pillar and put the aftermarket pillar in place of it? Or do I keep the factory pillar on the car and put the aftermarket pillar overtop of it? If I need to go with option 1 then how do I attach the vent to the aftermarket pillar? Also, should I drill holes into the metal to make the aftermarket pillar stay in place? Please help. Thank you.

Yes I removed my old pillar and installed the new one. Then simply drilled a couple holes and screwed it into the metal. Then put plugs in place where the screws are.

Thats 1 way to do it... The Pillars are desinged to use the OEM trim as the mounting point if you will. That is what the plugs are for. Take the pod and press it tight to the OEM pillar, clamp it softly so it doesn't move, drill 6 holes towards the edges and take your time to make sure the previously drilled holes line up before drilling the next. You will have to cut the back out of the OEM pillar for wires. If you take your time and do it right, it will look OEM.

Doesn't work on 2004 cars. GM redesigned the pillars some where in 2004 and the autometer pod wont fit over it...

Put mine over the old one, with one fat screw at the top to fasten it to the factory pillar. I have a late 03 with that wonderful FFS fuel system.

Easy, either the pod will fit over you stock pillar, or it wont... You will know when you try it..

The aftermarket pillar will fit over the stock one off the car. I am not sure if it will fit on the car though. I just want to do it the right way.

If it fits over your good to go. Mine would not fit over it at all, not even close...

The way mine is molded it has room for wires without doing any mods. They tuck in nicely under the adjacent trim. My boost is electric and no air line, just wires to the sender that is under the hood.

Mine is glued over the stock pillar. The vent trim is on the outside as well. This way there are no pins or other hardware to be seen. It looks like it came that way.

Pillar does not fit over on 04's. I took mine off and used velcro and the one screw in the weather strip at the top of teh pillar to hold it in place.

So since my is a 03 and my autometer pillar fits over my stock one, I should just somehow attach my autometer pillar to my stock pillar.

Remove the vent from the stock cover and epoy it to the new pod. Then get industrial velcro and run it up the a-pillar on the underside of the cover. You can drill a small hole at the top near the corner as another attach point. I have an '03, and here's how it looks;

Thanks for the help. The only problem I see is attaching the vent. The stock vent is too small for the aftermarket vent opening. I dont see how I can make that part work?

Yeah I didn't wanna make a big project out of it, and it lines up pretty good when you cover the old one with the new one, why bother.
