Default My engine build

I just need a little direction on my engine build. Here is my idea... please critique

3.905 Bore
3.622 Stock Stroke
6.125 Rod Length

Rods- Eagle with ARP2000 bolts
Pistons- Mahle -9cc dish Forged
Crank- Stock LS6 crank
Cam- ECS Blower Custom Cam
Timing Chain- Double Roller from ECS as well
Heads- 243 cast Stage 5 heads- 66CC
**The heads will have to be milled .005 which should take them to 65cc
LS6 Intake
P&P throttle body
Induction/Power Adder- Vortech S Trim

I need opinions on the Mahle Piston versus the Diamond. Thanks guys!

Mahle by a mile. I spoke to multiple engine shops (that build for quality not price) and all of them recommended JE or Mahle.

Between those choice I would vote MAHLE also and JE and WISECO also make excellent forged LSX pistons. Also, I am not implying that the DIAMONDS are junk but they are not the top of the line piston and are more of a budget buy that works well for most LSX f/i applications).

If the Mahles are 4032 i would throw them in the garbage-get the Diamonds. One small lean out and you'll be eating rings. I don't have any idea why anyone would want a 4032 piston versus a 2618.

Default JE's all the way

I personally would use JE out of the three.

It was stated that the diamonds are a budget piston but they are more expensive than the mahles. You guys have me very confused now I can get the mahles much cheaper and they include rings and wrist pins. I guess my main question was do you all think that is a well rounded setup? Does it seem to be a good combo?

Yes that will be a very good setup, I use the Mahles in most all my builds. The Lunati rods cost a little more but are a little liter than the Eagle's.

I've always used diamond pistons in every build and have always been happy with them until the last set. The pistons had a significant weight variance between the heaviest and lightest but they switched them out without any question. They are in my 346 that has already gone 145mph on a soft tuneup and a weak bottle. When I build my big iron motor thats should make 1400hp or so I am going to use Diamond again.

Your combo looks good.... Have you considered going with either an Eagle or Callie Dragonslayer crank? Just curious.

Wish ya the best with your combination!!! Can't wait to hear that bad boy fire up.

If we are talking off the shelf, Wiseco is the best. I'll take my 1/16 ring stack over the metric stuff anyday.

I'd rather see wiseco pistons, callies ls1 rods (light rods) and patriot LS6 stgII heads or AFR 205's if you want to get the good ****

So far my diamonds work and same for the West Coast Heads and I know the eagle rods, 5200 miles and rocking on the motor, maybe next time I can go with the gold standard and upgrade the heads to the trick flow and those wiseco's and callies, as they seem to be about at the top of the performance parts for our builds

Everyhting looks good EXCEPT the Mahles-pistons and rings together for a good price doesn't mean a good thing. Just stay away from the 4032 stuff and by no means are the Diamonds budget. Wiseco, Diamond, Ross are among the best stuff-if you WANTED the best you could get a set of CP pistons.
