Default complete solid mount

Both the 4l80E and the Th400 swap from Yank have the ablility to be solid mounted to the rear cradle. I have also located solid motor mounts for the motor. The question is if the tranny the motor and the Rear Diff are all solid mounted to their respective cradles, would the need for a DTE brace still be there? Since there is no more flex, i think there would no longer be a need for it.

Anyone else have an opinion on this??

If you really think about it the DTE brace adds tension or draws trans and rear together. Torsional stresses are different.

I'd ask others but suspect keeping brace would be beneficial especially if you already own one. Don't know about getting it to fit correctly though...

Default brace

depends on what your going to do but lets face it if your going with these trans options your not going to ***** foot around. the dte style brace controls the load that breaks the rear off the back of the trans.
That load comes from the pinion gear trying to climb around the ring. If you think about it from a side view when the car accelerates the rear tries to rotate in the opposite direction of the tires. This loads the top of the rear case ( tension) trying to break the upper ears off. the lower portion of the rear is in compression. The brace applies the load thru the links to the torque tube eliminating some of the load that would also have to go thru the trans case.
Lets look at it like this and I'll keep it simple engine torque X first gear ratio if the torque that must be resisted by the bolts and mounts that hold the rear to the trans then add the shock load of a trans brake and some torque multiplication from the converter and there is allot of stress on all the parts. The brace transfers much of this into the torque tube easing some of the strain the mounting between the trans and rear.

If you solid mount everything you will have a vibration in the car and it will also make the car that much more violent and harder on the parts and harder to hook up. Hook up meaning traction.

I am sure that Yank would not want the conversions run without a trans/rear brace.

Use The Brace!!!

We were the first to get that system to really work. My self and the Vette Doctors spent a lot time and money perfecting the conversion and it was no easy chore. You need eliminate all of the flex in the drivetrain tie that thing togeather as much as possible.

It does come with the brace, i just didn't want to do all the clearancing to get it to fit. But it seems as if it's worth the time.

thanks All
