I have seen many tests of the Bugatti and it never reached 200 mph in 14 seconds in those I saw! They test drove one in Germany and they reached 124mph in 7,4 seconds and 186 mph in 16,7 seconds and the numbers were close in a French test.
http://www.netcarshow.com/bugatti/2004-eb_164_veyron/
This is an article I found on the net! I have seen several tests and it never reached 300kph (186mph) in less than 15 seconds! Keep in mind that the car makes around 800 RWHP for 4162 pounds!!! There are several Vettes that make over 800 to the wheels and are much lighter than 4000 Ibs
So there might be a few Vettes quicker on this forum, including you Nick

I'd pay big money to have a shot at one!! Highway rolls are what I live for. I'm not saying that I think I'd win, but I'd love to have a shot at 'em. W/my new gearing, 5th gear goes to 211mph! I'm getting the whole rearend micro-nited so we'll see how that goes. There's a texas 1mile event in March that I plan on attending if my car is good to go. We'll see what 800rwhp in a vette will do 200mph in

If it's the standing mile, 200mph will be a hard goal to ascertain. 800rwhp is a lot but lloking at other cars with more HP, they had tough times attaining much over 200mph. I wish you luck but a mile runs out real quick when you start clicking those numbers. Let us know how you do!!!

All this talk about 0-200mph times... have to bring it back to the pratical were mover of us can play.

Do some quick math guys and take a look at those that are cutting 60' in the 1.3s-1.5s range. I think you'll feel pretty good about you 0-60mph times.

Actually, 1.3s 60' is faster than a 1.5s 0-60mph. I'll have to break out the calculator becasue the old v2=u2+2as math doesn't work in my head any more.

nick, turn up the boost and run some race gas and i bet you could have that VW (hehe) worried!

these cars are great, but frankly only for collectors and people with more money than sense.

give me a Zonda, McLaren F1, Ultima GTR or korningseg (whatever it is) and day. then you can spend the rest of the cahs on a vette!

Chris.

I just happened to see one in person today. A 40 something y.o. was driving it. I was in a little lancer at the time so no fun for me. This was on palos verdes drive east (So Cal) in rolling hills. That is a sweet car. What some forget is that it is an expensive but stock production car that has 1000hp. Also the duel clutch and gears can handle it. The tires have been tested to near 260mph!!!!! I don't care at that point who's first to 200. This thing will stay together at incredibly sick speeds. I agree it is heavy but well it is also legal and smogged. Crazy right.

That's not what we heard in France! It has been reported that the engine and tranny are not that strong! As you mentionned yourself, these cars are good as collectors. They use new technology and when something is new, it is usually unproven. That's why problems occur. That's an impreesive car though!!!!!

you are totaly right they are a feat of engineering. but what have they achived??

they are not making ANY chash on these motors. the development took sooo long (about a year to a year and a half over what they said) and they had sooo many problems. for starts they kept catching on fire as they couldn;t keep them cool enough. so more vents got added and more rads (more weight). think the thing has about 12 radiators in total!

also they dont handle that great compeard to the chapear stuff so you can never really throw it down a twisty road with real gusto knowing that its going to be with you all they way! i read an article about a group of supercars and some more mundane but very fast stuff. the vayron didn;t do that well! yes it shocks you with its power and speed but what else can it do????

my point is its really missed the point of what supercars are about! look at all the great supercars every built. the F40, Mclaren F1, etc they they all looked, sounded, felt and went like they where the BEST in the world!

and to me that is the point of a supercar! you need to feel that if you take the next corner as fast as the car wants you to go you will be in danger of loosing your liesence or you might die!

just my opinion though.

thanks Chris.

I hear you, the bad thing is that there won't be a second version.

True, for an all around supercar, but this was built to be what it is and not for tight twistes. It is a supercar.

IMO the Veryon doesn't have anything on a ENZO. First off I'd rather have 625 HP at under 2700 lbs. opposed to 1001HP at 4200lbs...........That thing must handle like a dump-truck.
