I have a 2000 coupe with LT, x-pipe, and ti catback. I recently
had a procharger D1sc installed. When I got the car back, I noticed
that the exhaust was popping pretty loud on deceleration. I was
told by some folks that it was probably a bad check valve in the
air pump system allowing cold air to be introduced to hot exhaust!
I replaced one of the two valves with no luck. Any thoughts? TIA.
If I'm not mistaken, I think it's normal to hear popping sound on deceleration. Your PCM has a Deceleration Fuel Cut Off (DFCO) table. Basically with your mods, your tune is dumping more fuel (compared to stock) and not all of it gets burnt in the combustion chamber. Therefore your hot exhaust may ignite it and cause the popping sound. I don't have a FI system, but mine does the same thing NA (headers & X-pipe).

The popping makes your car sound bad ***...I like it.

Dam, I wish I had spied your thread from 2-6-07, I`ve been chasing that EXACT problem since my 90mm up-grade on MY A4 Maggie!
My tuner even played with and adj the DFCO and TC lock-up tables.
I even changed out the two check valves midnightc5 mentioned
It`s much better but still surges very slightly between 1800-2200rpm under steady throttle or very light tip in on the accelerator, thanks for the "heads-up!"
