Phil
spoke with tech over at earls and they assured me that their cooler will not cause any restriction. that POS tube fin that i had on was more restrictive then this earls thats for sure...all those bars that make up the cooler will out flow that single tube.
actually phil had two people pm asking why you were being dick to me......
i told them your just that way....

Nope, not being a dick at all! Just trying to get you to really think about your decision and why it may be wrong . To much spoon feeding these days .
In fact, maybe you can call your tranny builder, I'm sure he will give you the correct answer .
Phil
PS A good tube and fine has virtually zero restriction (minus frictional losses) as its a tube only so not sure how a bar and plate could flow better. But its not the point I am after anyways.

i agree with yoo 100% on the spoon feed deal.....you hold me at a higher standard and expect the best.."man that sounded good"
phil i take it as a complament
as a matter of fact i was talking with todd......just wanted to see how his car was coming along and other small talk. he told be that rodney perfers to use tube vrs bar and plate as believe the on paticular unit that they had was causing resistance..other then that he didnt mention anything else.

I said talk to your "tranny builder", not Todd . There is a very BIG reason to go with a tube and fin. Continue you search and you will find enlightenment. Then when you find what you are seeking for you can decided if its a really good idea for you to run a bar and plate. Just trying to keep you from making a mistake .
Nice oil cooler but I probably would have placed it where PFADT is proposing with there kit. When it comes to Oil Cooler placement I like looking to those companies (DRM, LPE, Mallet, PFADT, etc) that specialize in the road racing areas as they tend to have the greatest need (given the use) for oil coolers...and thus put a lot of thought into the location.
I'm not saying that it isn't a good location for air flow...I just think there are better locations that don't effect the brake ducting.
A good example of this is AVB's locations...he has also put them to the test on the road course with the TT setup (+ iron block) and has reported back lowered oil temps after the sessions.

hey kevin....
yeah but to me its more important to get max. airflow and cooling then the brakes getting fresh air. if the motor is running hot i aint charging hard into the turns anyway it might be best NOT take turns to aggresively with new setup....dont wanna toss it away

You will have to throw it away everytime the trans/converter let go.
GM/Jasper/Penske and almost every engine rebuild requires a receipt for a new oil cooler for replacement gm truck engines warranty to even be considered. No matter what tanks/cleaners you use pieces will still be stuck in it and dislodge and go though the system.
Now, in your case do you really think your not going to smoke trannys/converters? Its your descision but at least now you have an enlightened one Grasshopper
