Yank 4L80E..conversion
It's not physically possible to install the 4L80E ( which is larger/heavier than a t-400) without modifying the rear of the tunnel , I don't care what Yank says , until I see pics ( which would be hard to tell anyway ) I don't believe it , the trans is too big . My RPM 4L80 conversion should be running in a few weeks , the trans has been in the car since March , and I had other issues to deal with , ( cracked cracked C5R block ) but it's finally coming together . I wish Tom luck on his install and good luck with the new trans .

I sold my Vette and went back to racing an F body but the first thing I did was order the best 4L80E available.
That is from Gear Star / Yank, the total cost complete was 5500.00
This is a standard case, standard converter, with the only totally custom parts being a cross member and cpu for the trans. But there are over $ 2500 in billet and cryo treated hard parts in the trans. It is very easy to see an additional 4000-5000 in parts to make this live and work in a C5. The DTE brace alone is ~ 700, any custom billet bellhousing is an easy 1000, drive shaft is 500+, custom converter + 300min. thats an extra 2500.00 and im sure im missing some stuff.
Im now looking at getting another C5 hardtop or Z06 and the 4L80 will be mod 1. If you want to reliably play hard in the 700+rwhp range w/ an auto and OD with peace of mind the 80E is the only route regardless of what it takes. 10K is hard to swallow all @ once but most guys will easily spend it in 3 years w/ a 60E and 700+ rwhp.
