I tried driving the car once at 15#s where it was making 745rwhp and it wasn't tractable enough for 335 street tires. I have found that 550-620 rwhp is plenty with a turbo setup....you can get away with having more hp with a Centrifugal SC because it builds boost as rpm increases...vs a turbo where max boost occurs where the spool or controller regulates it. But even only at 8-9#s I have to run road course tires to really get what I consider traction in 3rd and 4th.

I just ran the car on the dyno at the higher boost numbers because people asked me too.

One of my favorite comments that I have got with this car is when whoever in the video tape stated, "it sure doesn't sound like much"....my car is very quiet....until you get 2900-6500rpms.

On my 03 C5 Z06, I added a cold air intake ($400), Vortech Supercharger @ 6.5psi ($5700 new), LG headers w/RT cats ($2000), Exedy twin disk ($1500? - can't remember the exact number) and a tune ($250). I installed everything myself. As I posted above, the car made 544hp/465tq at the tires @ ~6.5psi.

With a set of ET Streets on the car and a fairly easy launch, it ran 10.89@128.5.

I think any of the tuner FI centrifugal kits will get you 10s on your stock motor with just a couple other bolt ons, like headers. I was still running my stock Ti mufflers on my car, too.

LOL, that's teh funnay right there, I don't care who you are.

I had a 3000GT VR4 (1992 pearl white 1st gen) BPU. It was always acting up and I spun bearings on her twice. I loved that car.

I got the vette bc of the reliabilty of the drivetrain. It's a DD that I beat on and has gone 50k in the last 18 months (bought in March 06, with 56k and as of tonight had 105,4xx on her No boost , YET ).

You won't regret the vette, and BTW nice supra.

If you want to run more than 7-8psi, you'll want to run meth. With a good tune and meth injection, you can run 10psi pretty safely. More than that and you'll want a forged motor. The sky is the limit regarding boost once you've built the motor. The amount of power you make it directly related to the size of your wallet.

You should be able to make 700-750rwhp with a TT setup on a forged stock crank rebuild. A good top end, along with a stout bottom end, should allow boost levels of 14-16psi on pump gas w/meth. Here's a dyno of an APS TT 347ci setup that Cartek built for a member on the board:

750hp/791tq at the wheels.
This is my car that we are referring to. Let me just add that 750RWH on the street is VERY hard to handle. I think I have almost killed myself about 3times already. I feather the gas just to keep it on the road.

Lots of fun.

It's comments like this that make Vette owners look like arrogant @ssholes. The guy is an enthusiast, whether he likes Corvettes or Corollas. He come here genuinely looking for knowledge and information, and being very mature about it, and you have to go make a stupid comment as the first reply? No wonder people have such a negative attitude about Corvettes and the people that own them.

Oh, and odds are the three cars he had prior to this would put a hurting on quite a few C5's and C6's.

WELCOME!! As an owner of a Subaru, Supra, AND Corvette I can tell you they are all wonderful cars.

The vette is just so damn versitlie!! The firts thing you are gonna notice is the BROAD torqueband and immediate throttle response. Also, you have sooooo many option on how to make your vette fast: N2O, turbo, supercharger, all motor.

Dont try to do an apples/apples PSI war with the smaller import motors. The LSx motors can make just STUPID power at UNDER 10psi. That also means sooooo much less stress on your engine!!

Anyway, welcome to the WONDERFUL world of corvettes.
(oh and just to show you im not a ricer)

WOW!!! That's a MONSTER turbo! What size is it, and what kind of power did you crank out with that? That looks like a 80+ mm turbo.

Soooo, how do you like the Corvette over the Supra? I'm talking all aspects, power, feel, and most importantly, ease and potential to make big power?

Overall, its no contest, the corvette is the superior car. It is also 15 year newer technology LOL. For straightline highway runs the supra GENERALLY is better.

This was my old tune last summer:

I just TWO days ago re-tuned it on VP import and we stoped at 1250whp

For "BIG" power, the Supra is "easier" since it is already turbocharged and has eleventy-billion tuners out there.
BUT this is all changing as GM and the aftermarket continue to evolve the corvette market. I fully expect to see 1000+whp vettes in force in the next few years.

Me persoanlly i would LOVE to have a KB-charged 427. I think that would be an AMAZING street vehicle.

For the OP -- APS TT's and a stock 99 LS1 @ 8 PSI:

And 125 Trap speeds with crappy 2.2x short times. Yeah, they respond well.
