Default Boost A Pump Question

I am looking to test the output of my Kenne Bells BAP. My car (late 03) maxed out the fuel at around 540 RWH on Andies kit. The BAP is turned al the way up. I thought these things were good to 600 RWH. Can I put the leads from my voltmeter to the positive and negative wires on the BAP and then turn the dial to read the voltage at various settings. I guess I can also look at the fuel pressure guage when I turn the dial to see if the pressure goes up or down, after of course jumping out the switch. Any other ideas? I just want to make sure that this is working properly before I go ahead and upgrade my fuel system. More power could have been made but tuner said I need more fuel.

Thanks

A few key things are missing.
1. What injectors are you using.
2. Have you added a pump and harness.

I would recommend at least running a pump and I am assuming you are already using 60# injectors?

Do you have a FP gage and were you logging it, if you have a small predictable drop in Fuel pressure you should be able to still tune around it.

I have 60 LB injectors. I have the late model 03 fuel system. The only thing I can do is add a BAP.

I do have a fuel pressure guage but I wasn't logging it.

Not sure where you heard that from... but that is not all you can do.
Racetronix has a full setup for your car now.
You can also get a racetronix harness for it. Which I would recommend along with the BAP.

Your other alternative is a secondary pump.

I would try the BAP and harness first.

What does the harness do?

The harness is a plug and play setup that provides the pump voltage directly from the back of the alternator via a 10 gage wire, instead of the stock wiring. It also provides you a plug and play place for the BAP right where you need it to be. Pretty straight forward.

Thunderracing is a racetronix dealer.

Racetronix website has no fuel pump for a late model 03. Just previous years.

I see that they have both the fuel pump and harness for my car. How much horsepower will this set-up support?

That would be a question for Racetronix, but I would also recommend an alky kit.

If you don't want to mess with the hassle of putting a pump in, go with a harness and an alky kit.

The single nozzle kits are $575 plus shipping. Let me know what you think.

I have made over 700 on a single pump with alky.

I've got the harness (linked in my Sig) connected to BAP, 60#'s, then alky. I've heard that different setups like SC, Turbo, and Nitrous have different fuel requirements. So what works for 600hp turbo may not be enough for SC, or something like that? This is enough to keep my setup on the 10's for AFR, and so far so good.

To answer the original posters question, you can check voltage at various points to make sure everything is working properly, before you start buying more parts. WIth your BAP, you should be reading 16+ volts when under boost. It's pretty simple to check

I'm in the office today, feel free to give me a call if you need some help

Thanks. Maybe I will give you a call on Monday. Right now the BAP is tapped in at the relay box in the engine department. Would I get more voltage if it was in conjunction with the racetronix harness?

Yes, right now, the wires that you tapped your BAP into are only carrying11.1-12.0 volts to the fuel pump BERFORE the BAP ramps up the voltage, so after the voltage increases, you may only be seeing 14-15 volts.

The Racetronix harness will apply a full 13-13.5 volts direclty to the fuel pump during normal operation, and voltage will rise to 16.5-17.0 when the BAP kicks in. It's very easy to check all of this with a volt meter, call me up on Monday, and I'll walk you through it.
Thanks,
Ed
