Well, she fired right up about a half hour ago. No leaks (so far) and only a little smoking for a minute or so.
This winter saw the Vortech S/C, LPE cam and adjustable double roller chain set go to that great auction site in the sky.
Last year's build included LG longtubes, HF cats, ported 243 heads with sodium valves and P.P. dual golds, forged Mahle pistons, hand filed rings, balancing, ARP studs,Textralia clutch, DTE brace, hardened output shaft, guages, and a ton of little things.
This winter I R&R'd the heads so they could be freshened. I replaced the cam with the infamous ECS Blower cam, and the overly complicated A/W intercooled S trim was chucked in favor of the wonderful kit from ECS. I have to say that they really put together a nice package. I'll be more confident in taking our usual summer trips with this under the hood. If I would have had to change a belt with the other set up I would have ended up flatbedding it back home.- Not a good thing on a 1500 mile trip.
I'm surprised with the idle. I had a little lope with the old cam and I don't hear any hint of it with this one. Hopefully the increased power will make up for the loss of lope.
Time to put a few odds and ends back together and give it a good cleaning and wash. I'll get it on the road early next week, then get it tuned.
Tom

Thanks Steve. I don't think that I'll reach your HP numbers, but it'll be more fun than last year.

Sounds awesome buddy! Glad to hear she is all put back together and fired right up. ECS blower cam is the real deal. Very stealthy. It does have very slight lope to it. Almost sounds like stock cam on steroids. I know I love mine.

Is that crazy guy up in Canada tuning it? If he is, you will be over 750rwhp for sure! Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks everyone. It sure feels good to have it up and running again. I have a couple hours of little things to do before it's 100%.
Nouman, you are a madman. I have no idea of what HP it will have, but I'm not going to shoot for insane numbers. I will only have street tires on it and have to admit that I'd like to get semi decent MPG out of it when I'm not on it. Don't flame me for saying that. We already have a 52 + MPG Insight, but as I said earlier, I like taking trips in the Vette. My last setup did not match well and I had low HP and bad MPG. I'm hoping to better both.

Good stuff Tom-don't worry about the mileage! Even at 900 rwhp last year I was still getting 26mpg with the 96lb injectors and a auto.

Well then, let's see what you can do with my car. I'll talk to you early next week about an appointment.

Tom, like Arun said, don't worry about the mileage. With about 700rwhp I constantly get 29MPG and thats getting on it a few times. Car is unrealistically reliable. I just made a round trip 550 miles last week and driving down to MO from SD (600 miles on way) on 19th and coming back on the 25th.

Arun, I can't wait to see what you will do with this car!

Tom you are one lucky SOB

I have no way of posting a sound clip. I can tell you that the longtubes and HF cats sound awesome when the cutouts are open.
