Default Madeouttaglass's custom catback experiment!

Tom brought his 04 Vert with ECS Novi kit down for a tune and when we got it on the rollers we got try a neat experiment. At first glance's Tom's catback looks like a Borla Stinger exhaust but it's actually a stock catback with tips welded on. Then inside his ashtray panel he has remote switch to let the cutouts open-this is the best of both worlds-nice quite cruising, flick the switch and let all hell break loose. It looks like the stock catback is not that restrictive at all?

Cool experiment

FWIW a few tuner shops have posted that they have the Z06 Ti catback on supercharged cars making 700+ all day long with no power issues. With my turbo car however, I did see a pretty big change when I swapped away from the Z06 Ti.

Can you quantify "pretty big" for us?
I'm just curious if keeping the stock Ti's and going to a 3" h-pipe would suffice for the time being.
I'm really considering a LG Big 3" muffler setup with a 3" h-pipe.
Thanks.

Yep, right around 40-50 to the wheels when I went from Z06 Ti to Borla Stingers. YMMV.

That's true with turbo's but keep in mind, not gonna see the same gains with anything else.

Nice experiment and the numbers on Tom's car look a little more like they should.

I have picked up a tenth in the quarter with the same experiment so it sounds about right on to me.

Right, that's what my post above said.... the blower tuner shops do 700+hp cars all day with the Ti and no issues, the power gains only become a reality on turbo cars and likely not because of flow capability but because of the WAY the air flows to try to make it quieter. Maybe exhaust gas reversion? Who knows.

Bottom line, Ti is perfectly fine for blower cars from what I've seen and heard.

That is just huge!!
I knew exhaust and turbo cars go hand in hand, but that makes me justify the cost for a custom exhaust for my car!
That should put me over 600rwhp!!!

Damn, more $$$ to spend!!

Thanks for the info.

With the ECS Novi and the ECS blower cam-what could go wrong? If the car didn't have that damn 04 fuel system and some meth we could of cranked it up some more!

My TT gained 11hp/6tq switching from a stock Ti to my current Bassani cat-back. But compared to others, it's not one of the Forum's big HP cars.

Man, I've been busy and off the forum for a week and look what happens- Arun makes me a celebrity.
Doug, I would say that you guys guessed right about my old cam not being right for the blower. Your cam and blower are 100% better than what I came to your shop with last year.

It's the ECS cradle and I laid the radiator down a bit more than the instructions said. Ask Arun- the fan clears the upper charge tube by about .0001"- maybe less. It did however allow me to leave off the bent metal elbow in the front of the blower.
Hey Arun- do you have a video to post? Maybe one with the guy next door coming over to complain about "All dis Godda_ _ noise! Mine ears hurt!"

What fuel upgrades are need for a 04 system? Why doesn't the LPE pump work?

I have the MSD BAP. It worked fine for my car and goals. Arun was ready to put meth and a bigger pump on and shoot for the stars.

What's your fuel pressure at idle? Under boost how much psi do you lose? I'm at 61 lbs at idle and drop to 57-58 under full boost. I have a stock fuel pump and msd bap.
