Single turbo overheating solved.

I got the new craddle which dropped the rad at least 4"s.Very slick.I also had tried the stock thermostat which over heated.I then modified the stock thermostat into a 160 and still over heated. All this was before dropping the rad and putting the stock fans back on.While I was going through all this a freind on mine kept telling me to pull out the thermostat.I just couldn't do it as I knew it didn't work on the old cars. The water just flowed too fast for the rad to cool it down.Anyway he assured me it would work so I pulled out the thermostat.Got everything back together, filled it up with coolant and went for a drive. The car never went over 185!
Can I get an AMEN!I was really getting tired of driving like an old lady with the heater on.
On top of all this when it was overheating it had the stock shroud on the rad. With the dropped cradle there is no shroud!Weird considering all I've read about having a shroud and sealing it up to the rad.
I'm ready to rock.Waiting for my high stall and valve springs and hopefully 10s in street trim.
Thanks to this forum and all who tried to help.I'm slowly learning.
Take care.

PS.Has anyone ever looked into the lower rad hose housing on the rad of a C5 A4?It is almost comletely blocked by the trans cooler. There is barely 1/8" clearance for the water to flow.I have no idea why GM did this.It could be a built in restricter but what do they do for a manuel rad?If anyone has a rad from a 6 speed on the floor ,I would sure like to know if there is a restricter in the bottom hole of the rad.

Yes I did.I tried to post pics but I just couldn't get them up
Hey.Maybe that's what cured my cooling problem!
Thanks again.

Still seems a little weird that you are not running a thermostat

Perhaps it was a bad thermo?
Well anyway let us know what it pulls at the track
I had a hot temp problem and it came to be that I had the two wores going to the fan backwards and it was pushing and not pulling thus giving me high driving temps. Make sure the wires were not criss crossed

Thanks,Matt
