Im new here, I bought a 04 6 speed coupe last week. I want to install a supercharger and I am pretty set on the Pro Charger.
I have a local shop that offers the stage II kit for $8200.00 installed and tuned. Does that sound like a fair price? They quoted me $7200 for the kit if I install it or $6600 for the kit and $1,600 for install if I let them install it.

Don't know where you live, but I would recommend and ECS or A&A kit over the procharged kit.
Better brackets, engineering and support. Do a search or visit their sites for more info.

That sounds like a screw job. 6600.00 for the kit or 600.00 more for cash and carry??? Sounds like they have 600.00 in negotiating room. There are plenty of reputable tuners in this forum. I highly recommend you let us all know where you're from so we can get you in touch with one. Otherwise, GOOD LUCK!
Do your research on the procharger kit, before buying it. They do have nice colorful informational literature, try to be subjective.
I've owned the Stage II kit with a D1SC. It was a nice kit, and made power, but I tend to favor the simplicity of the ECS and A&A, a lot less intercooler tubing to deal with. A&A also has a really cool looking efficient intercooler that was just developed. I really like the looks of it, do a search on it.
Most guys on here would agree that A&A or ECS are best when it comes to centrifugal superchargers. Most are speaking from experience, I would listen to these guys, especially if you are new to the FI game. If I were to do it all over again, I would go with A&A or ECS.
I am open minded, im not set on the Procharger. I was only leaning that way because a shop here sells them.
I am in Reno NV. I will look into all the info you all offer. Thanks.
I just got off the phone with Andy at A&A and now I have changed my mind. I will be going with his kit now. I am looking to buy this kit in the next couple of weeks, just need to pull a few more bucks together.
Thanks for the info.

Andy makes a great kit and the Vortech unit is great, although I stand by procharger head units 100%

Buy the kit yourself and let them install and tune it for $1600.
$6,600 is a joke. You can get the Stage 2 kit with a D1SC for less than $6,000 if you shop around.
Also, buy the tuner kit. You can get injectors separately for a better price, and the hand-held tuner is garbage. You need a real tune. I hope that shop was going to actually tune the car properly, but the price quoted seems like the price for a kit with the hand-held tuner.
The more I read your post, the more I would run away from that shop. They are either seriously ripping you off on a Stage 2 tuner kit, or they are actually planning on using the hand-held tuner.

Thanks for the replies, I talked to Andy at A&A and he has a great price for a complete kit. I just hope I can get all the money together while the sale is still on.
I think I am going to do the install myself, I feel I will better understand whats going on with my car if I take on as much of the labor as I can.
I just have no idea of where I can get it tuned in my area.
Buying a SC is a sizable investment! I suggest that you slow down and spend some time looking at the benefits and disadvantages of the various systems that are available. We Corvette owners are fortunate to have so many systems available.
You have to decide what is right for you. As you can see there are many opinions on this forum. Develop a list of what is important to YOU!
I strongly suggest that you purchase from supporting forum vendors. The reason for this is the support that they offer. They know your car! Shop around, and if you find a significant lower price with a non-supporting vendor, most supporting vendors will match or come close on price. And even if you have to pay a little more the support is worth it.
Some things to research:
Cooling - See which systems have more problems with overheating
Cost
Customer support - Procharger gets a bad rap from past history. But if you by from a forum vendor such as Bob@EPP you will get excellent support
Power objectives - Be honest about how you plan on driving your Vette.
Reliability - Mostly bracket and pulley issues
Car modifications - What do you intend to do with your vette when you decide to move on? If you intend to sell it with the SC installed you won't recover much of your sizable investment. Many remove the SC and convert their vette back to stock. This way you can sell the SC kit, recovering ~ 50+% of your SC investment. However, with some SC kits you have to modify your car more than others. This will make it obvious that your car was modified, which will potentially lower the selling price.
