What's the guesstimated price of a Procharger kit? Installed?
I have a stock '01 and have decided to add a S/C over a H/C set up for now. Is this a bad idea and do S/C's requires much maintenance? what kind of boost in hp would I be expecting?
My procharger D1SC kit was bought used off the forums for 3800 dollars. Orange County Corvette installed it for 2500 dollars and the car made 465rwhp on 7.5psi. I ended up going back to the stock radiator fans(I would not go with the Procharger's electric fan), went with a different airbridge and intake, and re-tuned at 481rwhp, and 449rwtq with just LG Headers as my only other mod. So far the kit has 15k total miles, 10k on my C5, and not a problem. Besides changing belts every few years, the supercharger oil needs to be changed every 5,000 miles. Since Procharger doesn't run off the engine's oil system.
Many people daily driver supercharged corvettes without problems. It's all in the tune, and having big enough injectors and fuel pump to keep the fuel pumping as it will use a lot more fuel under boost.

I am going blower with my C5 LS1 one of these days. My tuner sells and backs up what I have read here about Paxton/Vortech! I don't NEED the extra power,,,,just WANT it, but with as little after install probs as possible. Thanks for the info!
