My factory crank balancer is on it's way out. What are some of my alternatives? I'm not supercharged yet, but plan on going with the ECS Paxton Novi in the future. Would I want to go for the 10% underdrive? Or should I stick with the factory size?

If your going to go with a blower in the future DO NOT GO UNDERDRIVE.
Get the factory size or look at the ECS overdrive balancer if your forged.
My personal preference is the ATI stock size balancer.

What leads you to believe that your factory balancer is on it's way out?

It wobbles and starts to throw the belt at higher rpm. It's not loose, not even close. I pinned it and got the bolt to spec when I did the cam install.
I've thought about that ATI. Are they steel or aluminum? Who has the best price around?
Stevie Turbo (in Ireland I think) has a 8.5". If you're getting someone's system like A&A or ECS, you'd better make sure it'll fit with their bracket before you try to buy and put one on.

Never heard of the Innovators West. Well I'm going with the ECS Paxton Novi so, what should I get Doug and or Chris? I'm going to avoid the 8 rib for now, when I do a forged motor I may upgrade but, the six is fine for now.

I think there on some people on here that run a 6 rib belt on an 8 rib balancer. If you can go that route it will save you a headache in the future. But thats just food for thought. If it was me and was going to throw another 6 rib on I would just put a cheap stock one on>IMO Good Luck to You

I was unaware you could do that. I figured it would walk over on higher rpms?
From: ECS : WTF did you break now and HTF did you break it this time

not a problem at all, wound up doing that with a buddy's avalanche when we found out truck ps hubs are a larger shaft than vettes and the vette 8 rib stuff we had wouldn't work (of course we just machined it out adn now it can get teh 8 rib, but worked for 3K miles)
I personally have the ATI 8 rib and an entire 8 rib setup on my forged 346 novi car. I believe its stock size but chris/doug can confirm it, came from them, so I'm going to imagine thats what they're gonna recommend for you.
on the topic......if you're doing the novi any time soon, maybe you'd want to put a blower cam in there now while most of the work is done?

no need for an underdrive which will reduce the B@@ST
Of course you do not want to go through all that touble and not get the intended B@@ST
