i was told that by getting a bigger crank like the Eagle 4340 Crank with 4.00 Stroke will turn my stock 346 into a 382.what does this mean?i know it has got more ci which means more power but what kind of power gains would it produce n a 2003 bone stock a4 vette?just wondering but a 382 sounds like its got more power than a 346..might have more questios depending on the answers i get.thanks for the help

We use a 4.00 stroke crankshaft in a lot of our engine builds. The longer stroke will produce more cubic inches as it increases the piston travel in the cylinder bore. The added cubic inches will noticeably give the engine more torque and some added horsepower.
I'd hate to try to guess at just how much additional power you would see on a bone stock engine, but it would be somewhat like comparing an LS6 to an LS2. The LS2 has more cubic inches and you can tell it when you drive an LS2 Corvette.
As far as manufacturers go, we prefer the Callies Compstar crankshafts to the Eagle crankshafts, as we feel the quality is superior in the Compstar crankshafts.

I have been told by a few respected machinists that Eagle and Scat started out with some issues and some shops and racers never got over it, but their quality has come up and leveled out. I have one friend that owns a race shop that runs his engine 8k+rpm every chance he get to go to the track and has had no issues in 3 years of beating on his Scat crank, however I chose to go with the Callies. You can guess your HP increase by calculating your HP per cu. inch and multiplying by your new displacement. Know that your tq will go up under the curve as well and everything you add to the engine i.e. cam, heads, headers will be appreciated much more by your new found displacement.
im just trying to figure all of this out.so whats the biggest motor i can go to and everyhing or at least most of the stuff on my engine now will fit on the new engine.i thinnk i said that right
i have about 10k for whatever i do.im just tired of ricers making me look silly in their supra and what not..im talking more about the wiring harnesses and such on the different motors would be the same if i use those of my 346?i wanted to do FI but there are so many different opinions on that its hard to make an educated decision every body says something different.its the same way with na but doesnt seem to be as bad.i dont know a thing about changing motors(well not enough to matter),but it seems like most people want a 408 or 427 but the dry sump is a bad thing with the 427 ive heard, but i dont know if thats just a 427 straight motoer or a stroked 427 but i want about 450-500 rwhp without a crazy *** idle and lope.i like lope but to much to me dont sound good to meand i figured it would be easier to do that with all motor since i want a biiger motor anyways, and i figured a na motoer would be better for a "street warrior"like red light to red light than say a s/c or turbo and certainl cheaper
