Default agostoni short block engine ls1

I was going through the reciepts for the 99 vette I bought. The short block was built by Agostoni racing, installed at cartek with cartek stage II heads and cam along with maggie. The short block is 9.0 comp, with lunati rods, forged pistons ect., and maggie uses a different pulley to generat approx 9.5 lbs of boost. One thing that was odd to me is that the short block did not use a forged crank, the spec sheet mentioned a GIII LS1 crank, but they went with high end rods and pistons.

Anybody know anything about Agostoni engines?

Also is it a big deal that it does not have a forged crank?

Stock cranks have been good for over 1000 h.p. so your fine. Agostoni was a player sometime ago but unsure what they are up to these days.

Stock crank is good for 1000 HP. That's all you need

Don't know about the engine builder!

But I do know that the Gen III LS1 Cranks are good for upto 1000 RWHP.

I had my motor forged and the stock crank was used but it was polished out and fully balanced!

You will be fine and it sounds like you have a real nice Vette on your hands

What is the RWHP and RWTQ you are putting down?

Thanks,Matt

If you mean Agostino they were in Toronto Canada. When Dave Deluca(RIP) used to work for them they built some stout motors but since that time they have been riddled with a lot of shady business practices. They may operate under a differnet name now but I am unsure. I know I would stay way clear of them as personal friends have been screwed over there as well. Your motor may be fine...like I said I think ist was poor business practices that put them into problems.

Default dyno

About 3 years ago when this was all put together it was dynoed at 512 rwhp and 497 rwtq, but since then has come to Cali, lost its long tube headers, had oxygen sensors installed, and then retuned. So I would think it is still in that vincenty.

Dave and NIck built some stuff for me about 6 years ago and it was awesome I left the scene for a couple of years and when I came back they were gone.

It was Nick Agostino's Agostino Racing Engines, his partner took over and I haven't heard or seen of Nick in years. They were among the first along with MTI to install dry sleeves into the stock blocks (hog them out) and use the longer stroker necessary to develop 400+ cid engines...most notably the 422cid. The also were one of the first cars in the 8's with a 250 shot of NOS.

The only reason aftermarket cranks were used (by anybody) was to get the longer stroke necessary to achieve a larger displacment. GM actually did it their first year returning to Corvette Racing C5R which used a 6.0l.

The stock crank is a great crank and many including my self have hit 1000hp using it with little difficulties. You don't need it unless you want to increase you CID without boring, or it is damaged. The 6 bolt main supports the crank...much better then lets say the L98 350cid TPI motors..which had a 2 bolt main...I broke 3 of those in my IROC Z28

Yes I had a lot of fun drag racing that car down in San Diego against LX 5.0 Mustangs and Buick GNX's. Between that and my GSXR I am happy to be still alive.

That was the first car I ever drove that actually handled!

It was stable as a ROCK at high speeds, would stop and turn very well.

Sorry for the thread hijack Toby...
