i was wondering why you dont see compound turbos being used in the performance car world?... i see them used quite frequently on the diesel side with great success i have a friend with a modded cummins diesel he had a single 67mm turbo and made 45psi of boost and we built a twin turbo setup with the 67 feeding a 75mm s400 on the same truck and have a hard time keeping it under 80psi !!
Because non-staged turbos will produce as much boost as most gas engines will handle.
When direct injection becomes more widely available on gas engines and is timed to the combustion event (like diesels), maybe that picture will change.

diesels can tolerate WAY more cylinder pressure than gas engines. not much need for compound turbos on gas. direct injection is nice, but I don't think it will allow anything but more boost/power and a bit more mileage.
a good twin or single turbo will get us there just fine.

I totally agree. It's not like we can use all the power we create now with our current turbos.
what about lag i know the compound setup on diesels anyways has way less lag compared to a single.... so why not have a compound setup for lag purposes ?
