Default ECS BLower Cam Specs

Based upon recommendation talked to ECS about a blower cam. They are really reluctant to give out the specs of their "custom designed" cam for my particular application. I guessing because it it it so close to an "off the shelf" like a Comp cam that sells for less $$$.

Anyone run into this before? Want to purchase based on recommendation, but would like to know what I'm getting because I may be able to by a cheaper cam kit if specs are same....with $$ as tight as they are.

ECS and many others don't divulge their cam specs because it takes time and money to develop and perfect those cams and they want to protect their ability to profit from their R&D effort. Pretty straight forward, order a custom ground cam from Comp, or spend the extra $150 and get a cam you know has been developed by the pros.

If you were sitting in ECS's shoes would you give out that information for others to copy? I have their blower cam and am quite pleased with it expecially at top end.

Just go with something custom ground for your setup.

I would only go with theirs if they were doing the install/tune.

Understand the business side.

I guess real issue is my builder does not know what were putting in there, he has his own ideas fora cam profile based on my options...AND I don't like th idea of buying something first before I can actually find out what I'm buying. Thanks for you opinions, ECS must be good

I had asked (provided info on motor) in previous and got an overwhelming response to use Chris's cam at ECS. So I decided o go that route until I coulnd't get any info. Again like I said above if they are as good as the forum says they are may I don't need to know what I'm getting....

I have their blower cam and don't know the specs. All I know is the power it makes is very good (HP and TQ) and there are some ugly fast cars on this Forum running them.

I can assure you thats not the reason. We sell all our own custom cams for $419.. I would venture to guess if you call comp the price will be in the $400 range, possibly more.

We dont give out exact specs but we tell everyone the same thing. The duration is in the 220's and lift is well below the 600 mark. The cam drives like stock and makes tons of power. We understand that some people might not want to buy it because we are secretive with the specs and we are to a certain point. The bottom line it thats its the most streetable cam and makes the most power. We have many cars running in the 9's to back this up.. Listen to some of the idle clips on line as well and you will see how docile it it. Hope this helps clear things up..

I have ECS blower cam for my 99% street car that has also ran 10s on the track with street tires. It is very stealthy. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Do a search over You Tube and you can find my car with this cam idling etc

IMHO cams should not be bought off of a name, part number, or popularity.

The cam chosen should be based off of your EXACT specs. Motor size, compression, gears, tranny, driving style, head size, head flow, type of power adder, and overall way of how you want it to run, should determine what you buy.

Just because Nike Air Jordans are the best basketball shoe, doesnt mean everyone buys the same size as Michael Jordan wears...

Cams are tooooo important to buy based off of a trademarked name..

That being said, I do not feel ECS should ever give up their specs. They race wayyyy to much, spent a fortune in testing, and have wayyy to many people trying to copy what they do.. $419.00 is an awesome price.

Chris,
At some point I am going to do a cam.
Still all stock LS6 with TT.
Would your cam work well in my application with the TT's?
Thanks for any help.

Personally, I would never run a cam without first matching the specs specifically to my engine/set-up and intended use!

We have a different cam for your build, give us a buzz when your ready.

Guys,
some people do not like that we do not indulge our cam specs, but at the end of the day our blower cams are one of, if not the, most proven set ups on this board. Sorry if we will not give away years of testing so it can be copied, especially since we sell the cams for basically the same price as if you called Comp for an off the shelf cam.
