Default 403 Stroker Kene Bell

Hey guys I am working on my new build. I recently broke a ringland in my stock LS6. I already had a 403 from a previous build setting around. So I decided to use it. It is a iron block which I didn't really want to use in my Z but decided to try it since I already had it. For heads the motor has ET Performance 255 11 degree heads. The compression is lower than I would like 8.5 to 1. My Kene Bell is a 2.8 from Jeff@TPE. I am looking to make 800rwh and TQ and to run 9's in the 1/4. I already have the motor out of the car and the new one ready to go in. I am putting the new one in this weekend. I am hopeing to have it in and tuned in the next few weeks. I have some pics for all you guys enjoy.

I am also doing a new fuel system. A Bosch 044 intank fuel pump with boost reference with Kene Bell boost a pump with a return.

It will be interesting to see the diff in your numbers and mine since I am doing the same thing with a 2.6

I don't think I will be able to leave at 6000 like I was before. I will start off slow with it. I know first track day is February 21 that I am hoping to make.

I just want to see the diff in air flow between the 2.6 and the 2.8.

8.5 CR seems really really low for the KB though. I had 9:1 and my 2.6 just couldn't make up for it. I ran it at 20# and it took so much HP to turn the blower that it wasn't worth it. I was only in the low 600 to the wheels at 20# with the 2.6 on a forged 346. I backed down to 16# and picked up 35HP to the wheels. Now there could have been motor issues or INTAKE ISSUES (cough, Jeff, cough, intake, cough).

With a solid motor, NEW INTAKE, and around 14 to 16# I hope to make atleast 775rwhp. If not there will be a 2.6 KB for sale really soon.

Shane, can't wait to see how you end up with the new build.
Have you for sure settled in on your tuner?

Hey Shane, you may have heard this one before, but I love your heads!! I think the only problem you may have is finding a pulley small enough to only make 800rwhp.

Well I think so East Texas Musclecar. Jeff from TPE recommended him. So I have been talking to him va pm's. He seems like the guy for me so far. He is only about 3.5 hours from me. I am doing a speed density 2.5 bar tune. Jeff is suppose to be to ETM in about 3 weeks. I am planning on taking my car when he is there if everything goes good. Putting the motor in this weekend and hopefully sorting out the fuel system also and ordering fittings and stuff next week.

Thanks Bret. I am hopping to make that everthing goes smooth. I have pulleys up to 21psi but I am not for sure if that pulley will make that much boost with my heads that flow crazy amount of air. If I am not mistaken they flow 350cfm @ 600 lift. The cam I have is 630 lift so I guess we will know shortly. I mostly drag race so I am anxious to see how well this system works. Seeing how I am one of the few on here that drag races. I am really interested to see how well the 3.90 gears work with this setup. I had a bad bog with stock motor after launch due to tune and 28" tires. I could probally get away with not even running meth this low of compression but I already have it so I will anyway.

Awesome...I followed your thread when you installed the Kenne Bell. I will be tuning in to this one as well.

I am planning to do the same as you, only with a LS2 block at 402 cu in. 9.0:1 compression, tfs 245 heads, and a 230/238 cam under .6 lift on a 114+2.

Good luck with the build and keep us informed!

Dang, I feel like the low man on the totem-pole with my little 2.6, haha. I am hoping my car is on the street by February. We are putting it on an engine dyno before installing it so we can make sure its spot on before it goes in the car. Sounds like there will be a few 403 Kenne Bells in the near future.
