Default Boost gauge

Is it useful to have both vacuum and boost, or is it better to just have a boost gauge that will "start to register" as you enter boost.
Thanks

I prefer both... A vaccum gauge can be a handy diagnostic tool.....

Boost guages are kinda worthless really though... I mean your car is set at a specific boost level, its not going to move unless somthing goes wrong. You dont need it to tune the car as the MAP will allow you to read actual boost from the engine that way while tuning... Wideband A/F and Fuel pressure are what you really need.

If you just have a boost gauge it will eventually not read accurately usually because as the car goes into vacuum it pulls on the mechanism because the needle will not go the other direction to read vacuum. This is what a Autometer tech told me.

I use both and wouldn't do it any other way.

I really like being able to see what is going on in the motor at all times and if you drop Vacuum then you know you have a problem, otherwise you might have to get a Vacuum gauge and see if you have Vacuum during a test

Get the double gauge

Thanks,Matt

Thanks for the feedback; I've sort of been on the fence about the gauge set up. I didn't really want to go with three gauges, although brian's avatar (if that's your car) looks pretty good. I just was afraid it would be "too much" to look at.
I agree that once you've had the SC for a while, the boost gauge might be less useful, but since it's new to me, I would like to know how much boost at what rpm etc. I know the vacuum is a great tool, I just didn't know if it would make it harder to read (at a glance) with so much info on a dial
I"ll definitely go with a AFR gauge, as they too, are a great tool.

PART B... Are the digital or analog gauges the easiest to read? Digital SEEMS to be easier, but if it's jumping around like my innovate guage is, it might be a pain
Thanks

I like the digital. Yes they move fast during a sweep but you can still tell the numbers. One feature I don't have but would be nice, is a memory for peak or even replay. Hard to pay attention to all of it. Gauges, tach, and the road...

Hey,

Let me know if you are going to do a dual pillar gauge set-up and go with the AFR seperate like I did!

I let you know which onje I did and how and where I mounted it. I have to take off for work so I'd have to either do a post with pics from work or this evening when I get home

I have the Dual Pod Pillar and a Digital AFR in where the Flip Door is for the Cigarette lighter! looks great and can be seen very good

Thanks,Matt

The digital does look good, especially at night
Matt, that might be a good idea. I already have my N2O gauge mounted in the ashtray compartment, so it would just be a matter of swapping them out.

Yea the triple gauge pillar in my avatar is mine. While my afr gauge is quite close to my face it doesnt bother me at all. I can glance at all my gauges when im WOT, but I usually log my outings in Hptuners anyway now so watching gauges is done less. The middle gauge however is partially blocked by the upper gauge. It would be fine for a person thats 5'7" tall but for a tall person like myself its block on the left side but I can still read the fuel pressure anyway so its not a big deal.

I run Cyberdyne digital vac/boost with memory and fuel pressure in a 2 pillar pod. The digital vac/boost lights steady in vacuum and the numbers flash when it boost.

Pleased with the setup and I get a lot of compliments.

Well you can add one more because that looks really sharp

So it's looking like boost, fuel pressure and AFR, in a two gauge pod.
Now to decide WHO gets to ride up top,and who gets to hide part time in the ash tray

I thought most of the new boost gauge does have vac in it. If it read like nagative number, that is vac number.
