Default Fuel system return advice

I have a 2002 model with an LPE pump, Racetronix harness and KB BAP. I am putting an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator at the rails and adding an aftermarket return line back to the stock fuel hat.

The way I understand it, there are 2 lines from the fuel pump that feed into the filter, and one of these lines from the filter return to the top port on the fuel hat.

If I replace the 2002 filter and add a filter from a 1997 model, which only has one inlet on the filter, then use my aftermarket return line to the port on the stock fuel hat.....will that cause any ill effects?

I hope I am being clear. I did use the search and found at least one person doing this, but I never read how it has worked out for him.

Any helpful advise appreciated.

LOL I know man, but I stayed up late last night and just was reading through some stuff and realized that this is an "easier" option than putting a bulkhead in the fuel hat.

Nevertheless, your help is always appreciated

You can absolutely do it that way. That's how Andy does his fuel systems and therefore the way mine's done. If you already have the rest of the fuel system parts, he might sell you the return line that will make it a plug and play situation for you. Just unsnap the line, change the filter and swing the line around to the line that Andy provides.

Ok I just did the fuel filter swap (2002 to 1997) and disconnected my return line from the fuel filter. The only question I have is that the pic referenced in the below linked thread, post 33 shows a different schematic than I saw mine to be. Compare the pic I took to the pic he took.

This is his (post 33)
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-f...mp-system.html

This is how mine is:

His fuel filter return and return from pass. tank is the direct opposite than mine was.....what gives?

When you disconnect the return from the filter, you just connect the return to the line that you disconnect.

Chris-this is the simplest way-let me try to explain. Grab a 97-98 fuel filter, pull off your old one and replace it with this. Now you'll see one line left-that is your return line. You can remove this line off the hat and then run a -6 straight to it. Then just get a Russel quick connect and your one.

The factory feed line will support 800 rwhp easy.

Sorry I don't have pics. But as soon as you pull off the factory filter you'll see what I mean.

Thats what I plan on doing as soon as I get my line, but It just had me scratching my head for a second since the pic from the referenced thread showed opposite of mine.

Thats what I got done doing yesterday just before I posted the update. New filter is on, now Im just waiting on my -6an line to run from the regulator to the Dorman barbed quick connect.

It all made perfect sense to me and was a very simple task to do, it just had me thinking since the "return from the filter" line on the fuel hat was marked opposite of another members on here. Oh well, Im gonna rock and roll with what I got

Thanks Arun
