Default serious help needed with heat problem asap

i have the ptk style TT kit with stock hood and i am runing some not so freindly temps. Break down:- Cruising @ 70mph - 80mph @ 70*+ = 207* - 230*, traffic @ 230* and rising. I am looking to get a vented hood and i need some options on hoods that would give most efficent results. Also any other ideas to reduce heat are very welcome.

call corvetteracebodies.

hood isnt the going to make it all better.
first of all check ur collant levels as i will tell u that this will have a dramatic affect on temp. secondly when placing ANY intecooler infront of a rad will increase temps.....thirdly a shroudless setup isnt optomium.

sincerely,

rpm 4l60e

Corvetteracebodies ='s ACP.

If you want a hood PM me with your name and I will let ACP know.

I don't know how hot your weather gets where you are at, but I drove 4-5 hours at 105-112* temps with AC on, put it on A&As dyno, made 830+ rwhp, and then drove back home in the same conditions...no problems.

This was before adding my 25 row Earl's Performance Oil cooler too.

ACP has both the Stinger and Heat Exchanger hood available that should help you out.

I also have a custom heat extractor hood that I had made out of my stock hood that I would sell. It's not the most visually stunning but it about as functional as having no hood on the car at all, at least as heat extraction is concerned. Click on my sig and you can see my screened stock hood.

I cut the hood and had a carbon fiber guy remake the supports out of high temp resin...you could always dress the edges on the top if you wanted to finish it off.

Let me know. The screens from the back side are professionally done.

What thermostat are you running? Also when are your fans programmed to kick on?

I'm on the stock rad and in 115* heat I have no issues and sit right around 200* in my car.

Make sure there's no garbage between your condenser and rad. You will be AMAZED at how much crap gets in there and how high it'll push your temps.

I'm sure they do. But if his fans aren't programed to kick on until 200* then that's a simple fix. Same with debris in the radiator etc.

I'm also in AZ running in temps he doesn't have. Hopefully my experience cooling the car here can help.

When I first put my turbo on I left the heater lines off from the expansion tank just to get the car running.Ran at 220-240 all the time.I later put the lines back on and the car came down to 200 most of the time.Now.Here is the part that I will get flamed for.I totally removed the thermostat, the car has no shroud and no lower spoiler. Now the car never goes over 185.Flame suit on!
PS.Intercoolers are mounted in the corners.

ive seen those shrouds on supercharger systems, i dont have one on my tti turbo system, wouldnt those stop the air from flowing above radiator and out the windshield area (i have the plastic molding removed right there so air goes out at end of hood)

I agree take the thermostat out for the summer and put it back on in the winter when you need heat again. I do it every year in my other car that likes to run hot.

So you just removed the air shoud in the center and that helped?

I'm not sure it helped.Only reason I left it off was that with my turbo system it was going to be a pain to cut holes in it for the inter cooler pipes.I thought I would try the car without the shroud and it just so happened it ran nice and cool.Maybe if I had put the shroud back on it may have ran too cool I would never take the shroud or the front air dam off hoping to make the car run cooler. It just worked out that way for me.I also have a lowered rad cradle that may have helped, but i doubt it.
