Totally agree.. But is it worth 600 dollars? In my opinion, no.
Also, another thing that one must take into consideration when considering an EWP, is that although the EWP may cool better at low speed and Stop-N-Go traffic, it has the opposite effect at high rpm's and fast highway speeds. It actually flows less, and can be a detriment. Being that the EWP flows one constant output, the stock pump out flows it at higher rpm's and highway speeds. So it also really depends on what the application is.

This topic has been talked about quite a bit. I believe Charlie at RPM was trying to come up with a solution to this a few years ago. He noticed the problem, and was trying to come up with some sort of electronic variable speed output. But i dont know if it was ever worked out.

As for the fans, they will not blow your motor in less than a minute. But an EWP will if it fails, and its not caught virtually immediatly. With a stock pump, you will notice the loss of steering.. With an EWP, you wont know until you either physically watch the gauge, rig up some sort of audible sound, or through sheer luck.

The electric concern should be no more then your concern over the electric fans. I did solder the connections with and used heat shrink.

so, bottom line is that a stock pump will work out fine for the F/I application.

I know I need to open up the front more for more air flow, but I think a different bumper will do that.

For a Daily Driver I would stick with a stock pump. Mine is not a DD and I do monitor temps closely when I do drive my Vette.

The EWP Flows 55 gpm which is equal to or exceeds the stock pump up to 3500-4000 rpm with stock pulleys. The stock pump can also cavitate above 5000 rpm but most guys aren't riding around at + 5000 rpm and the short time that they are is not an issue.

Test reports (by the manufacturer) show as much as 15 hp gained by switching to an EWP although I believe it to be 5 at the most.

Interesting note would be that a stock pump cavitation at 5000 rpm would also take some load off the pump and theoretically increase HP.

btw. I have never seen a post about anybody blowing their motor due to WP failure, mechanical or electric.

Last...If you blow you belt racing you can still drive home with an EWP

Damn Factory LS2 pump won't work with the A&A S/C Kit. Wish I would have known that from the start. Guess I did not ask the proper questions

You can run the LS2 pump but would have to get the C6 S/C brackets (at least that is what I was told), but I think it is cheaper to just get the 2004 LS1 pump.

I may be mistaken but I believe the LS1 pumps were replaced with the Ls2 style pumps. I say this because I ordered a water pump using my VIN last year and they sent me the LS2 style with the big "bell" shaped pulley.

I honestly dont see how that is physically possible. Unless for some reason the A&A kit is affected by the thickness of the waterpump bell. Because they are virtually identicle. I wonder if it has to do with a few of the spots that has some slight casting differences. To the regualr eye, one wouldnt even really notice.

Did you ask Andy? Its hard to believe that this is the first time this would have come up. There are ALOT of C5's running an LS2 waterpump. You would have thought by now that after someone bought a kit for their C5, and was running an LS2 pump, that they would have made a thread over it. If it is that propriatary, there would have been a few guys complaining. It just doesnt sound right. But I dont know. You should hit Andy up.

I also have one of Andy's LS1 kits, it is bolted to a LS7 block and L92 heads. I tried the LS2 pump as well and can confirm it does not fit. The area around the stock belt tensioner pulley is different. I even tried to modify the LS1 bracket to fit but no good. I also believe we need to go with a LS2 or above SC bracket from Andy. Too bad I have a nice new polished LS2 WP with no home.

They said you would have to get the C6 S/C bracket. Hope A&A can chime in on this.

Well, the bad thing is, is you have the wrong pump. But the good thing is, is this thread will have probably helped quite a few people in the future avoid a problem.

There may be 1 more option that hasn`t been discussed yet!

We`ve had a couple of new ZR1`s in the shop for mods and noted that they have several heavy duty changes compared to a C6 Z06....such as

The ZR1 has a 10 rib set-up and the water pump is heavy duty, it appears that the shaft/bearing is much beefier (haven`t tried to fit one on a C5/C6 but the bolt pattern looks the same...

The power steering and alt are also beefed up....thinking about trying a WP on my blown C5...I`ll report back if it fits.

Just wanted to bring this up again. Just thought it would be beneficial to others.

So if the EWP flows about the same at 3500-4000 then why do they run hotter on the highway?I don't think many guys ride around at 4000 on the highway when cruising.
