Default water pump

What water pumps are you high horsepower guys using? Positives and negatives on the pumps?
I am contemplating on a change due to my original one is slowly weeping out (weep hole)....not time yet, but just thought I would get inputs from everyone. Thanks.

DC,

I am running a MEZIRE - Electric Water Pump w/180* Thermostat

Some do not like them for FI but I don't sustain it under BOOST or Track the Vette so the EWP works perfect for me - on HOT days no higher than 192* @ a light in traffic the other day, and it was 96* outside - started to drive and back down to 183*

Thanks,Matt

In my opinion, the Evans pump, Model EP30913, is the only pump worth considering for high RPM, high load applications. Why?

• Heavy duty ceramic seal
• 8 vanes eliminate high RPM cavitation
• Superior flow ensures water moving in and around cylinders # 7 & 8
• Heavy duty hub bearing to support additional loading with SC apps
• Hard Anodized, billet hub eliminates belt wear and promotes grip
• Optional ceramic coating defeats corrosion and build-up

You asked and there is the detail....

Honestly, We live in some of the hottest climates in the country...

I have had no issues with the stock pump (even better if using an overdrive pulley). Although, if your running an U/D crank pulley, i prefer the EWC.

But I have found no need for the evans. I switched to an EWP for a whaile, but got rid of it because it did nothing for my temps, other than **** me off for wasdting my $$..

Anyone know if the C6 pump outflows the C5? I have one but was unable to use it due to the A&A kit I have is for a C5. The bracket would not line up.

I run a factory LS2 pump. Out here in the Vegas heat, it tends to work just fine. I found no reason to change. We've run to 1000rwhp, and 7400 rpm's

DC,

I am using the MEZIERE Electric Water Pump - with a 180 Stat and a Dewitts Dual Core Aluminum Radiator!

Most do not like to use EWP's on SuperCharged Vettes - But I do not Road Race or beat on the Vette and this summer I have had no cooloing issues at all, and especially since I went back to the factory fans:tgumbs:

At a light it is as cool as could be.

Thanks,Matt

I like the Meziere unit. I wish I would have never sold mine. Its just the electric part that scares me.

My car has less than 30K miles on it and the stock pump is leaking. I drive it spirited once in a while, but nothing crazy. This pump is junk, as are most factory pumps. Yeah, I could have an early life failure... I had this same kind of stuff happen on a different brand performance motor and eventually ended up with an edelbrock victor series pump, which cured my problems for good.

I also run a Meziere EWP in the hot Vegas summers. 3 years + and NO problems at all. I run just about the same temps as Matt with my Maggie and a 160* t-stat.

The main advantage is 100% flow even in stop and go traffic.

The electric concern should be no more then your concern over the electric fans. I did solder the connections with and used heat shrink.

Another nice part about an EWP is you can run it (along with your fans) in the pits with the engine off.

Notice where I said "I wish I never sold it"

It worked EXACTLY like my stock pump as I stated. But since I spent a fortune on it, and it did nothing for my temps, I sold it so I could re-coupe my money. Unfortunately, I sold it for 350 bucks (polished). So in the end, it was a nice pump that I wished I hadn't sold (and lost my azz) If you can find a smoking deal, then do it. If you have to pay 600-700 bucks.. Heck no.h

Would I buy one again?? No
Do I wish I hadn't sold mine?? Yes..
Are they worth the money for the money spent??? Not in my opinion.

Is there any other posts you wish to disect of mine?
