Yeah, we'll we were thinking it was breaking cause it was too loose or too tight or w/e but either I or Rudy will give you a call tomorrow most likely. Probably Rudy...hes better at describing problems and knowing general stuff with cars than I am.
Hmm how could it be unaligned though when all the brackets are factory and ECS brackets? If it were unaligned how would I go about fixing it? Where can I get an alignment tool and how do I use it? Lol
My friend thinks I need to just upgrade to an 8 rib, but I don't think there should be this many belt issues with only 600hp, I haven't read about anyone else having this much trouble with their 6 rib.
Thanks,
Brett
I'm having the same issue with a 6 rib belt also, with only 530 rwhp, and everyone is saying alignment also. I'm planning a trip to ECS o they can get me on my way!

We put a new belt on(Im here to tell you that autotensioner has NOT gone soft), tightened it down pretty good and hand turned the supercharger. I watched the belt ride up onto the lip of the paxton pulley (supercharger side). So its looks like the supercharger pulley is off alignment of everything else. I plan to use some straight edges and measure from the flat face of the throttle body to the alternator pulley and then to the paxton pulley. hopefully that will give us some insight as to whether or not the pulley is way out of whack in relation to the others.
Also using a carpentry laser sounds like a good idea...
maybe a stupid question - but is the pulley on the right way? I recently shredded a belt and apparently i had my pulley on backwards so it made the belt skip twards the charger also. (procharger versus paxton though)
Good question...
That actually hadnt crossed my mind since he bought the kit from someone on here and that guy had it previously installed on his C5. Still worth taking a look at though.
Hey Doug I tried calling earlier but realized it was already after your shop hours lol. I'll be dropping my car off at the shop I got my oil pan fixed at tomorrow. He'll check out the alignment and that knocking sound.
Without a laser we couldnt determine for sure that the pulley was off. The knocking sounds like its coming from the water pump area. Its weird cuz it comes and goes, is relative to engine rpm, but seems to go away above 2000 rpm. It doesnt sound like bearings grinding, but like a dull knocking. Weird. Hopefully Jessie's Automotive can verify the pulley alignment and hopefully he has had some experience with whatever is making that annoying knocking.

Knocking sound could be a loose cam bolt hitting the inside of the front cover...
If its a stock bottom end, its a pretty common problem after a supercharger install..When I do installs and have the balancer off I always pull the front cover and loctite the cam bolts..
That may not be the problem, but something to think about..
I hope not either. Just throwing this out but did you completely remove the AIR tubing? When my blower was installed they removed the pump but left some of the plumbing. That plumbing ran from the headers down by the alternator and then it ended. When idling it made a weird popping sound and the tuner said it was my power steering pump going out. When I got home, my dad found the opening and we sealed it with a bolt a viola! No more noise, also the popping on decel went away

Here is to hoping yours is something simple
We ummmm threw out the smog pump and just cut off the tubing as far back as we could because we never took off the intake manifold.
