Soo sounds like an ALIGNMENT issue

Look to see if you see any belt dust/powder on any componants, this will at least point you in the right direction.

Let us know what you find!

Thanks,Matt

I agree, an alignment problem is the number 1 belt related problem. Bob

So I checked out my engin e bay and noticed there is a little bit of black dust on the side of my s/c near the pulley and a little right underneath the pulley on one of the spacers.

You need to get one of those alingment tools and narrow it down to the actual area needing worked on

Hmm how could it be unaligned though when all the brackets are factory and ECS brackets? If it were unaligned how would I go about fixing it? Where can I get an alignment tool and how do I use it? Lol

My friend thinks I need to just upgrade to an 8 rib, but I don't think there should be this many belt issues with only 600hp, I haven't read about anyone else having this much trouble with their 6 rib.

Thanks,
Brett

The dust is from belt slip. A little bit is normal imo as long as your boost curve keeps going up(centri) or flat and not dropping(maggie).

Seems to me like the belt would be frayed and worn if the alignment was bad. Unfortunately I speak from experience here.

forget the expensive pulley lasers...all you need is a cheap ten dollar carpenters laser set it on one side of the car on the fender or hold it in hand you will see what pulley is off..simple...i did it two years ago have not broken any belts sence 15 ponds of boost 750 RWHP and it does see full boost a lot

Your better off calling ECS and have them diagnose your problem. Don't get all worked up listening to these guys trying to help. If your throwing belts it's an installation or adjustment problem, chill out and wait till tomorrow.

Been there...ALIGNMENT issue, not every car is exactly the same..So its possible to have and alignment problem..The Gates laser tool is the best way to check it...If you look around you might be able to find one local that you can borrow...

auto tensioner?

I'm talking about the spring loaded one off to teh passenger side of the crank pulley that gets relocated with the blower, not the one on the head unit bracket itself. Those can go soft, it should be the pain in the *** part of changing the belt.

We have never had a spring loaded tensioner go soft? Your tensioner broke and if you remember you guys had installed several of the idlers and bracketry incorrectly, which we found when we repaired it for you N/C. Which was why it broke...

OP, feel free to give us a call. Something is installed incorrectly, shouldn't be very hard to find.

I've noticed that if a belt breaks, and you do nothing to fix the problem but put another belt on.. my guess is that one will break also.

Just call them and get it solved!
