I agree with the guys above me. The 8" crank pulley is REALLY close to the waterpump pulley. You could probably get away with an additional 1/4" maximum. Unless you ran a smaller W/P pulley. But then you would have to be concerned with the amount that you are slowing down the W/P.

Personally speaking, the 8" pulley has been run to over 1K rwhp, and all kinds of belt tensions. I dont see any necessity to do so.
