Pilot Bearing Removal......Tricks?
Trying to get teh pilot bearing out. Got a slide hammer tool with the inner jaws that spread out. Ive torn out all the needle bearings and cage but the bushing has not moved. Any tips? Heat? PB blaster?

Is there anything left to grab with the slide hammer or is it just smooth?
If there is somthing to grab id try some penetrating oil, but id steer away from heat....
If its smooth or the above doesnt work, a pencil air grinder with a carbide endmill and cut it out.

pack it full of axle grease and smash in the grease with pilot alignment tool until it pushes it out (keep packing in more grease as you hammer)

BE CAREFULL!!!! do not disturb the freeze plug behind the bearing, it will leak oil and ruin your new clutch!!

we can not use grease on these as they have a plug in the crank. I will try ome pen oil and see what that will do.

They do make a proper puller for this job.
Good luck.

Drilled it between the crank and the inner race. Then chiseled it out.

NO NO NO, for the reasons already mentioned. You will punch out the core plug in the end of the crank doing that. These cranks are drilled dont forget.

Good luck.
Autozone has the perfect tool for this. I've had the same problem several times till I bought the new OEM tool made for this job.
To the op, go to Autozone and rent or pick up the OEM brand tool.

I ended up taking a grinder to mine last time. I cut it into small pieces and busted it out. Probably not the best way but NOTHING else worked.
not sure if this pic will work..

air grinder and a carbide bit, went 180 degrees apart, and cut just enough to get to the outside edge, than chisel n hammered and folded it in once it was cracked.
