anyone done this? im lookin to do this and want other peoples opinions who have done this mod... looks like it will clean up the engine bay nicely..... here is the link to it on ls1tech, bout 3/4 way down the page...
look at my build thread.. i did this mod.
it was a bit of a b^#$*( to get the alt in with out hitting the frame. so some grinding and trimming on the alt was necessary.
if you ever have to replace the alt. not sure how easy it would be. although when we did it we were dropping the cradle to get everything fitted properly.

If you are going to run an alt relcoation kit in the first place i dont see why that would cause a problem or incovience for you. You could get the the anglegrinder and MIG out.

The kit bolts right in, have you ever replaced an AC compressor in the car? It's not easy, but doable. On average the alternators rarely fail in these cars, so I do not see the problem myself.
You can either fit the case of the alternator a bit, or rubber mallet the frame in a touch right at the spot it would hit. You would be surprised at how easily a rubber mallet will "massage" it.
This is a mod for more serious guys who are not afraid to do some minor work to fit it in, but it is by no means a heavy fabrication job by any means.
The install, or replacement of the alternator does not take any more then a few hours at best.

It does an awesome job of that, when your even more serious and go with our manual steering rack, there is nothing on the left side of the engine at all. It really opens up the engine compartment.

Keep in mind that a power steering rack without power is very difficult to move compared to a manual rack that is geared appropriately for non power use.

Hey Doug,
I'd love to remove the power steering. What's involved/ are there any negatives? What is the the resulting belt routing configuration? I didn't see this on the website. Do you have pricing worked out for this installed at your shop?
Thanks,
