Does a supercharger change the spirit of a Z06?
I have been considering supercharging my '03 Z06... but I am worried that it will change the spirpit of the car as a light, nimble road racer. Does the superchagner and related componants make the car nose heavy? Other than the increase in power, does it drive much differently? Does it make the car handle differently? Any other thoughts?

The difference in weight from the charger (at least our kit) is about the difference in weight of about a half a tank of gas. Can you feel the difference in the car of a half a tank of gas?
IMO you will not lose any of the light performance feel to the car going with F/I, you will just gain a whole lot of gas pedal!
Feel free to call the shop if you would like to discuss this further.

Doug - Thanks for the repsonse... but a half tank of gas is perfectly situated down low, in the middle of the car... not hanging over the nose of the car in front of the front tires... there is a difference...
I am concerned that it will change the weight balance and handling of the car...

I could not tell any difference in handling. I'm also not a road racer or anything. All of the superchager componens are located relatively low. IMO the small amount of weight added especially in a street car is no problem for the advantages you get from a blower.

If you can notice the difference in handling that would result from the weight of a supercharger and ancillaries on the front of a Corvette (Z06 or otherwise), there are a couple of F1 teams that might want to have a conversation with you.
Proper corner weighting will offset your concerns.

This all good news... THe car curently has LG Pro long tubes, Random Tech Cats and GHL Bullets... PAC 1518 springs and Yella Terra rockers with upgraded pushrods... mid 500's to the rear wheels should be doable right?

I made 540rwh on 10 psi with a maggie. I wouldn't recommend a roots or twin screw for your app. Actually you can probally do a stroker and make that kind of power and work alot better for you.

The only component that is drastically in front of the wheels is the intercooler and even though ECS's IC is a monster it isnt very heavy. The piping is all aluminum so it is also very light weight.
You will not notice a difference in handling, and like someone else has said if you are really concerned about it just get the car corner weighted.
you can and will make 550rwhp no problem with your set up +blower.

I supercharged my 03 about 3 years ago with one of Andys Vortech Kits it was the best mod I have ever done. Once to stomp the gas you wont be worried about weight when take off like a rocket......
