Just wondering what kind of set ups you guys were running as far as boost gauges, wide band, egt, fuel pressure, boost controller

I know they have alot of stuff out there and I'm having a hard time figuring out what kind of set up I want to go with. I would like to get something all in one basically so I don't have a F-22 cockpit going on. I am a bit of a techie nerd, but dont want to spend a ton of money. I suppose I could just have HP tuners on a small net book and control everything through that, but I still would have to have a boost controller and all that bs.

This is for a TT install by the way.

The HPtuners idea is a good one. I like having a boost gauge and wideband available, but it is all but impossible to watch at WOT. I record all of my passes on the track with HPT so I can go back and closely analyze everything.

yeah i have been dabbling with that idea. I really don't want a lap top in my car. I thought of keeping a small netbook in the glove box.

I run a Samsung Q1 on a mount that sits just to the right of the gear shifter, over the cup holder. It's removable in about 20 seconds, and over the winter I'm moving my ODBII port over to the passenger footwell vs drivers. I have my AFX WB guage available to be seen from the driver seat, but most of the time its' tucked under the passenger seat reporting in HPTuners. I'll see if I can snap a couple pictures for you if you'd like to see. I picked the q1 tablet up on Ebay for $300 - slapped 2gb of ram in it and slipped windows 7 on it- runs like a champ. I have a USB/Bluetooth GPS reciever for nav/etc on the unit but haven't had time to get it all set and going. I just recently got the Droid phone with turn by turn via google maps, so I might not put a lot of effort into a windows nav program.

One thing I want to do is rig up a footswitch that toggles the spacebar so I can start/stop recording without fumbling for the tiny-**** space key.

no other gauges for me so far.

could you send me some info on that mount for the tablet. That is exactly what I was thinking of doing. A car pc or Carputer is prety costly so I was just going to use my small little hp mini net book and put it under the pass seat or behind it or in the glove box. ou guys gotta check this thing out. It has inputs for boost, egt, ect.

http://magden-auto.com/products/36

This thing is a little pricy, but if you already have a monitor in your car then your good to go. THis also has an input for your wideband.

I was going to get this set up or a touch screen in my dash, but then i would have to do all that modding of the center counsol and didn't feel like doing it. I was thinking a 7" in dash touch screen with HP tuners running right there in my dash.

Post some pics damnit Ice! Also Ice, what do you do to power your tablet. Just go off battery, or did u put an inverter in. I looked at the q1 and it seems nice, but then I would have like 3 laptops at that point and thats just silly. I think I'll make my HP Mini work. I'll figure out a way to get to have a component out so I can just plug it into my in dash flip out and then use one of my extra blue tooth mice and keyboards. Only PIA is that those don't have a disc drive so i gotta either load it on another computer (hp tuners ect) or buy a cheap usb disc drive.

BTW, I have the Windows microsoft streets and trips and that thing is a pain in the ***. it's not the easiest thing in the world and has a very crappy UI. It's no TOM TOM lol. I use my I phone. It doesn't have the speaking part which you have to pay for, but Its still cheaper than buying a regular gps. I paid like $70 for it with the gps receiver. Visit MP3car.com and they have other gps receivers that you can place outside of the car. There are not alot of places a magnetized receiver would work on tho on a vette lol!

Boost/Vac, Fuel Pressure, and Wide Band -- Autometer Nexus -- Nice, but the control box is a little temperamental. They have software that you can use the datalog what the gauges are seeing, but I don't use it.

I'm still running a very mild setup compared to most here. I'm only using Autometer Boost and Fuel Pressure Gauges mounted on the A-pillar.

The lap-top mount is not as bad as it seems. It's a police style and can be adjusted and/or swung out of the way. Actually a passenger can ride along with it installed and watch a DVD with PC in front snug against the dash. Also, the way it's wired, I can simply unplug and remove the entire unit in a minute, and only leaving a short tube attached to the tunnel and not in the way at all.

I also have one of these now and it can display a lot of different info, some the computer can not, or at least not easily. Great for displaying a/f ratio. The wide band can also log directly into the computer and be mounted in the glove box, and also has numerous parameters it can log in to itself.

...and my optional spot for mounting on a removable pedestal.

Here is my latest master control SW panel, but don't heaters any longer (NANO).

Finally the pillar pod and my nitrous and fuel pressures, which are and can be wired directly in to the computer for logging, and a shift light. The shift light sucks here IMO.

There are lots of combos and different set-ups on my web for additional insight. Also added comments in my first post on the lap-top and mount.

wow, yeah Bob, thats a little too much of what I was looking for. I kinda want to go the double din touch screen option and have everything like HP tuners with my Innovative LC-1 plugged into it.

Can anyone answer this:

Do HP Tuners or EFI live have addition inputs for data logging. I would rather just have a boost gauge, fuel pressure, and meth controller (that can be seen) and the rest going to my computer in the glove box. I have a 10" Hp Mini that I was going to have in the glove box or under or behind the pass seat. From there I was just going to throw a 7" touch screen in the dash (which I'm really not looking to mod) as a secondary monitor basically. I could maybe just throw the monitor to the side that way i don't have to deal with having a full car computer as far as radio, and cd's go.

I know nothing about tuning and will be working overseas alot so I won't be around this car that much so what is everyone's opinion? Stay with something simple, get it tuned, and call it a day.

I'm still waiting on my APS kit in the mail. Merry X mas me!

Both HPTuners Pro interface and EFI Live have additional 5v inputs to monitor alternate inputs. you an also use unused things like AC pressure (I use it to monitor my WB while tuning) or EGR.

sorry about no pics yet, the snow here has been crazy working to get things cleaned up yet, but I will get you some pics

thanks man. yeah I don't get that whole thing about 5v inputs. Can you change the name of the input so you know what your looking at.

Apple needs to make the "iphone" of tuning lol.

BTW, here is the meth controller I'm about to install this week.

Here's some links to get thinking about what you may want to do. We can set-up custom pids to log what ever we want, if the know how is there it can be done. I have more if you guys would like to see them for insight? I too would like to do a small monitor in the dash, but $$ has already been laid out here, so I am stuck with what I have, LOL.
Robert

I am pretty sure this is the mount I used.

EFI Live with Black Box logging, is by far the best accessory I have purchased. I set up for Fuel Pressure, Nitrous Bottle Pressure, Dry relay and Wet relay Status (Log when the Nitrous is on/off). Record hours of data on a SD card and play on your laptop later. You can real time monitor parameters with the EFI Live controller (similiar to Diablo handheld style digital LCD readout).

EFI Live controller with WB and Nitrous Bottle inputs on Passenger seat.

Below is a log from a 1/4 Mile track pass from this summer, you can see I had a host of issues for that pass =>
4° KR at launch,
Intermittent Nitrous function (Relay status input Green line at bottom that looks like an EKG).

Trick Performance Black Guage that has Bottle/AFR combo gauge and several other "Features".

Trick Gauge Function/Menu Video <----Movie Link for Gauge Functions

Custom Stage Gauge by yours truly (have Laser engraver for all this creativity ).

And of course a Trick Beer Panel by yours truly

That's a good deal Nick.Especially with a touch screen.I guess by 3D they mean progressive.Labonte has a nice fail safe unit too.I'm going with Julios Alky Control because he spent a lot of time explaining things to me and it seems to be the most popular system for the big power club.

Hey Bear.I want to get NOS just to have one of those panels.Very nice.

Hey Buddy, didn't you put together a write-up how-to on wiring this stuff up? If so, man this would help us all a lot. I know I don't totally understand how to wire and make work all of the products. Now that I think about it, wasn't there a thread where you did a step by step (not the one above) and it was real detailed, at least on some items. I would like to host the write-Up with your permission on my site? I know that EFI Live is a little different than HP Tuner, but HPT now has a stand alone logger that allows, IIRC, about 5/7 extra goodies that can be logged?
