Default built transmission or built engine

My and my friend are both getting corvettes, i've already picked mine out but he's on the fence between two. Basically the same car, both are supercharged but one has a forged engine with a stock tranny with a after market clutch and the other has a beefed up transmission from RPM but a stock engine, doesn't even have a cam. Which one is a better deal, both are actually the same price. Thanks

Get the forged engine car, then buy a new transmission. Seriously I would think a forged engine would be the better choice, as a tranmission would be cheaper and easier to add later.

With what little info we have here - your best bet is gonna be:

FORGED Motor to start, I mean who would not want to start with a forged motor, the tranny's are a dime a dozen and I would feel waaaaay better having to replace the tranny than a motor any day (I've had to replace both, with the Forged motor being more $$$)

any additional info on these two Vettes would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,Matt

let's see, the one with a forged engine is stock displacement with a procharger with all supporting mods like a meth kit and upgraded fuel system the other has the same supercharged but a level 4 rpm tranmission built rear end. Both have upgraded sound system, rims, about the same mileage same year both z06 models. I mean literally it's like your offered the same car but you pick if you want a forged engine or a built transmission.

Sounds like you should go for the forged motor and call Rodney at RPM for a serious trans

I would probably benefit from the upgraded drivetrain. Assuming the tune is good, the stock motor can last a long time. Bangin those gears can tear stuff up in a hurry. It would make sense to drive both see how they really compare.

Go for the better motor. When the trans go you will know more about the car and what way is better for you to go at that time...

I was in a similar situation when I was shopping for a ZO6. I found a Z that was making 700+ RWHP but had stock drivetrain along with everything else. Then I found one that was making 540 rwhp, but had built tranny, rear end, aftermarket clutch, etc. I went with the second one.. Fast forward a year, now am making 660 rwhp with a new tune, pulley and meth..
